IUC World Exclusive: CRTC Investigating Tout Le Monde En Parle; RIP Dorothy Height (1912-2010)

The CRTC formally accepted my discrimination complaint yesterday against Tout Le Monde En Parle and Radio Canada. My complaint claims that the hosts of the show had a premeditated agenda for me and that I was treated unfair. A spokesperson from the CRTC contacted me, saying: “I am asking Canadian Broadcasting Corporation by copy of this message, to respond directly to you within three weeks and to send us a copy of its reply for review by Commission staff. I am also asking that it hold a tape of the broadcast in question until your case is resolved.” Read More here (Canoe)
- In other news, civil rights champion Dorothy Height passed on at age 98. Height perhaps was the most influential woman at the height of the civil rights movement. IUC Exclusive: IUC learns Rihanna Panic Attack Caused Chris Brown to Freak Out

A close friend of singer superstar Rihanna told IUC today what exactly led up to the brutal attack on her Saturday night by boyfriend Chris Brown. The friend said Rihanna had a history of panic attacks and freaked out a star studded bash when she caught Brown flirting with an older woman, well known hollywood actress. “He paid little attention to Rihanna all night,” the friend said. “He was flirting openly with the actress, who at one point was sitting on his lap kissing his cheek. Rihanna confronted Chris when they left and he completely lost it, beating her to a pulp and threatening to kill her if she didn’t leave him alone.” The witness added Brown did drugs in a bathroom at the party with a couple of friends and was “definitely under the influence”.

The couple left the party around 12:30 am and got into a rented Lamborghini. Shortly after, Brown stopped the car in L.A.’s Hancock Park area and the couple got out pushing, shoving and yelling. A witness rushed to the scene. The witness called the cops, identifying Brown as the assailant. Brown had already fled the scene. Brown later turned himself in to police and was released on 50k bail. The New York Times best-selling author poses as a gay wannabe actor, who also happens to be “Israeli royalty,” who goes by the moniker “His Highness” and arrives in Hollywood ready for his close-up—and guaranteed stardom. Unlike most undercover expose documentaries, however, there is real humanity in Halperin’s quest to examine the bizarre inner workings and broken dreams that keep the Tinseltown machinery running. The roll call of characters is central-casting colorful: the actress-cum-stripper who takes to the pole when her dreams of stardom (or even a reasonable payday) don’t quite pan out; the strident publicist who takes “His Highness” on as a pet project; the celebrity personal trainer who gives him a body makeover; the fawning retail clerks, casting directors, and questionable nutritionists who can barely contain their glee at the prospect of a new client/protégé who’s genuine “royalty.” Several A-listers make cameo appearances, including Brad Pitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and George Clooney. Halperin also lands thought-provoking interviews with industry legends including Bill Paxton and Ron Jeremy. He even gets Janice Dickerson herself to photograph him for headshots, with the promise that “we’re going to make magic together!”

Halperin also manages to infiltrate the inner recesses of the Church of Scientology, and do what perhaps no other documentary filmmaker has ever been able to do—get recorded footage of their indoctrination process. The Church assures Halperin in no uncertain terms that, for the right price, they can “cure” him of his homosexuality. These clips, and the bonus Scientology interviews and recordings on the DVD extras, are worth the price of admission all on their own.

For its intelligence, humor, and unflinching candor mixed with surprising warmth, His Highness Hollywood is sure to find a wide, mainstream audience. Recommended for all mainstream and/or mass-market retailers.

Paul McCartney was recently asked by a London session musician which bands’ talents he likes in today’s musicland. “A lot of the bands today are much more technical than we were,” Macca said. “But the Barenaked Ladies have to be my favorite. Their harmonies are right on. They could outsing us any day of the week. I don’t think John and myself ever had the sort of range they do.” McCartney added he wouldn’t mind cutting an album with the band. Maybe BNL’s next song with Paul will be titled “If I had a Billion Dollars” – just like Sir Paul had before gave a good chunk away to Heather Mills.

As previously reported The King of Pop Michael Jackson is gravely ill. IUC has learned he’s fighting a life threatening lung disease called Antitrypsin Deficiency, more commonly known as Alpha-1. The disease originates in the liver and often leads to lung destruction. A close friend of Jackson told IUC the singer is scared he won’t live longer than six months.

“Michael wants to have the lung transplant but because of other illnesses he’s fighting he’s too weak to undergo such a major procedure,” the friend said. “He’s taking one painkiller after another. The Today Show, one of my favorites to appear on, has canned an upcoming segment with Britney cause of all her “ridiculous demands”. This confirms a previous IUC story how Britney is afraid to sing in public and will only lip-sync whether it be on a tv show or live concert. One of the key points I make in my upcoming book about Brit is how she lost her voice a few years back and since then has only been able to lip-sync.

IUC Exclusive: Mark Knopfler wants to produce Shania Twain’s new album

IUC has learned legendary Dire Straits’ frontman and virtuoso producer Mark Knopfler believes he can bring Shania Twain back to the top of the charts. “Shania’s working with a new producer but is considering bringing on Knopfler to make sure the album goes smooth,” a friend of Shania told IUC. “He recently told colleagues how he believes Shania is the most gifted singer in the world. He thinks he can make her bigger than Britney, Christina and even Celine. It could be quite the collaboration.”
