    @Patty Anne:

    It´s a bit to early to celebrate. The photo I saw on the news could be anybody. If he´s dead it´s great. He has killed thousands and thousands of people. However the war isn´t over if Qaddafi is dead. There will be more violence and killing before Libya can get some peace. Right now there is a lot of people out in the streets, shooting and throwing stones on each other.

    Yes Joanne, you immediately found the reason for Qaddaffis dead. Now we don´t have to think about who should be honored, it´s the hungarian police.

    Don’t know what to think about all the unrest in that part of the world, but good riddance on Qaddaffi if reports are true. He was an arrogant lunatic in the extreme.

    I don’t know what to think about this either. While there’s no doubt that Qaddafi is an evil dictator and the world is better off without him, this whole invasion of Libya by Nato troops is troubling. It seems that we only intervene in those nations that are rich in oil (or opium in the case of Afghanistan). Who will fill his shoes if he’s really dead? That’s a big unknown. My knowledge of Libya is very limited but my understanding is that there are tribal conflicts within the country though from a religious standpoint I think they are mostly Sunni Muslims. I guess time will tell if there will ever be peace and some kind of democracy there.

    Of cource it´s a joke, both your´s and mine comments. I enjoy sick jokes. I thought a while before I wrote mine but decided it´s ok to joke when most people all over the world is lucky he´s gone.

    @ WTF Qaddaffi probably had / have at least five bodydoubbles. Now they are Qaddaffis ghosts. Maybe they can earn their living from that. Now I´m very close to cross the border of what is appropriate to write so i stop here.

    See that female behind him in the picture above? She’s reasonably attractive, right? Have you ever seen the rest of his “team”? They are female and some of them are very attractive. I was reading on site where it covers everything from A to Z on MKs. It had a pic of him and his “entourage” and said they are his mks. I take everything with a grain of salt, however things are really beginning to make sense and it’s all coming together for me. How else would you find a bunch of people to be at a dictator’s beck and call. Control their minds so their bodies will follow. Yuck, yuck and yuck.

    It’s just so evil but fascinating to me at the same time. I’m learning at my age that things are not the way I always thought they were, or maybe I just didn’t care or couldn’t begin to digest any of it. I’m not surprised at too much anymore.

    I suppose if you wanted to look for clues connecting this Jan, in the article that was linked, there was a quote that the “reign of Gadaffi had ended” , (Brange) and the photo is tagged as dictator, not with his name , that could be applied to the one who was ruling Brange. Is the Brange dead? I am not speaking literally of course, nor would I ever insinuate such a thing. I would like to see them both succeed at something , standing on their own and with complete honesty, and Jennifer as well. That is not the industry though, so not banking on it.

    Her trailer is out. It will appeal to those who like foreign films. It is not something that has not been done before , despite the controversy. If you have not seen Welcome to Sarajevo (Woody Harrelson) or Shot Through The Heart (Vincent Perez ) directed by Attwood directed, Winterbottom the other one, they are great films. Both based on true accounts, both horrifying, and both equally heartbreaking. One deals with the orphans left behind from the ethnic cleanings as a result of this civil war, and the other is more similar to what Jolie is trying to do, although she is basing hers on lovers. STH is based on friendship, and how it is torn apart. Same sentiment. I could easily see how this film also could have influenced her writing . I never forgot either of these films. They both stay with you, and are just unforgettable, and at that time it was beyond one’s imagination that brother could turn against brother, friend against friend, lover against lover.

    Please do not confuse my comments with defense of her film. I have not seen it, and I understand there are strong claims of plagiarism, I don’t know how true or not that is. The film itself though looks from first glance like many of the other foreign films I have seen, nothing shocking, highly emotional, but perhaps something the majority of American audiences may not relate to, if they do not already subscribe to this type of film. You have to love these kind of movies to want to see them. Some do, some don’t. I understand that he kills his lover at the very end of the film. That is suppose to be shocking I would imagine, but it has been done before in the previous film, just was not his lover, but the love was equal. Not sure I would walk out feeling good on that note, but it would stay with me, just as these other two films did. If those who watch this saw the other two, this film will just be another one like those two, which were very powerful because they were done at the critical time. This is being done NOW, why?

    When stars want to connect with the public and build their Brand they find an emotional point in which to do that. We have seen her do this through her children , Jennifer has done it through the girl next door, now she is shaking it up with something new. Same idea though. Marketing. It is the same with a film. If it does not connect with you, you will get up leave, just as some did in Tree of Life. Some loved it , some hated it. That is the art in art house films. lol Same for AOJJ , brilliantly done film,it is a long road trip, but in the end it is worth the experience. It is not really a Brad Pitt film either, he was really just a co-star. I don’t like westerns, but the concept was interesting, the soundtrack was awesome as was the scenery. Interesting that he has taken co-star roles in the last few films and now is back to taking on the main role of the film, assuming he is in CT and WWZ.

    I am in the middle of watching lots of films and in group discussions on those films so just being unbiased here. Not choosing sides. It takes an army to make a film, and all those little soldiers have to feed their families.

    Ian is very clever if his intent was to through this out as a news item that has world coverage and to also point to a update of the last clue. Trying to leave and the dictator is now ..done. I dunno, maybe, silently behind the scenes. Japan this week, will they show, him, her, they, Happy Feet , she is promoting her, he is promoting him, together separate, he says more kids, she says no . Does he think his chances at the roundtable are about unlikely, then maybe , otherwise I can’t imagine any public division in these two at all for awhile. I just see a repeat of 2009, with all 3/4 ;)

    @Kate:
    Interesting post, Kate. Thanks for telling us the ending of the movie. Now, if you will give us the beginning and the middle it will save us the time and cost of actually seeing it, not that I planned to, lol. I may watch the trailer though. The other movies you mentioned might be worth watching. I agree there will be no public split in the near future. What would we talk about if there were?

    I watched the trailer….and it looked like the woman was being held against her will (kind of like Brad?) If she would have left….he would have just shot her in the back :( The so called “love scene” looked like her skin was crawling. ugh.

    i always question why america and NATO have done nothing for the zambaians that is ruled by Mugabe but them they do not have oil so who cares that those people are starving and have to seek another country like South Africa to flee to. as for whether Qaddafi is dead or not why did they not bring him to trail instead of killing him, are they going to be any better or are they replacing one dictator with another? it is a pity it took them this long and now there is another country to be rebuild just like Iraq and that place is still a mess. must we destroy before we build. as for this jolie movie i cannot believe she wrote it in 2 days when it takes writers and more intelligent people years to write and produce a script, i call bs on that, it seems to be a story taken from different books and made into a film if you ask me. jmo i do not rejoice in anybody’s death no matter how evil without a fair trail.

    However deserved it may be, I don’t like celebrating anyone’s death, because I feel like it cheapens life, and because its dismaying that mankind still has to kill to solve its problems. Also, the media coverage feels like an electronic version of the ancient Roman Coliseum act of death-for-entertainment. So, while I’m glad Qaddafi is out of the picture, I don’t want to celebrate that it took death to do it. I guess that all sounds kind of ambivalent, but that’s what I get from the whole thing.

    @I’m on the bidet:

    I don´t think any of us opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate Qaddaffis dead. It would have been better to catch him alive in the same way as Saddam. But I´m not the right person to judge if he was taken out of the picture in the right way or not, as I´m not either a military person or a politician. But it doesn´t seem like anyone want to honor him so I think we have the right to say some improper words about him. Words we never would have said if it was anyone else who had died.

    and although Zimbabwe may not have oil, it has minerals & diamonds, which multinational corporations are busily exploiting with the revenue benefitting those in power. Typical post-colonial scenario.
