No it doesn’t. It doesn’t bring my husbands cousin back. It doesn’t bring her kids, their mother back, or her husband, his wife back. It doesn’t bring back my husband’s uncle and aunt their ONLY child. No….there is no “justice”, in having simply killed him. Shooting and killing him was an easy OUT. HE never suffered a minute…it was a quick kill. Those that suffered in the twin towers, and be crushed or burned to death…knew they were going to die, for HOURS. IMO, he should of been brought back here to NYC…Hung by the towers, and let every person who lost a loved one, have a swing at him with a bat.

Use your noggin, UTC. Which country was going to accept Osama’s body for burial? It’s extremely convenient to dispose of the body at sea. Certainly “getting” Osama was on Bush’s list of things to do as well.

It is rather suspicious that Usama Bin Laden is killed within a matter of weeks after Donald Trump forced Barack Hussein Obama to produce a birth certificate issued ( still out on that one) by his birth state. When John Wilkes Booth was shot & killed the government said they dumped his body in the water, too. But they didn’t; they buried him in an unmarked grave on a military site, only to be retrieved by his family when Andrew Johnson was leaving office and giving everyone pardons. So who knows what Bin Laden’s true end fate is.

@whatever – beautifully said, and I’m so sorry for your loss. You’re right, this isn’t justice. It seems like those that do the most harm & are the most evil never get what they truly deserve in this world; one can only hope they get it in hell.

Bin Laden is gone. It feels like a comfort for all bad things he stood for. His death will not bring back the dear ones that have suffered their lives because of Bin Laden . But he was the symbol of what happened the 9th of november 2001 and all the following violence in Afghanistan. My thoughts goes to all who lost family and frinds because of Bin Laden. My thoughts also goes to all soldiers from the the US and other parts of the world who have fighted and still fights against the terrorism.

So, Bin Laden is dead. Much of the world heaves a heavy sigh of “good riddance.” Unfortunately, I believe Tinkuy is correct. His death does not end terrorism. There will be another who will rise to fill his vacancy. And as whatever has made — quite sadly — clear, his death does not mend that which he has destroyed. Justice? PERSONALLY, I feel Bin Laden escaped life too easily. The hubby and I were wondering if Obama would have Bin Laden’s remains drug through the streets of New York and then hoist his head on a pole for all to see. “Civilized” people don’t do that and I certainly PRAY we are a civilized country. Still, BL got off too easy. In THIS lifetime, anyway. HIS God says he will be rewarded. MY God says otherwise. IF I make it to heaven and IF I still care about it, I’ll ask the Lord whatever happened to that human devil. May you rest in MISERY, Bin Laden!

Oh PLEASE!!! Osama Bin Laden died years ago at Tora Bora – this is just political posturing by the US. The best lie Obama could have made up to garner support. Around here all the rednecks who yesterday were calling him the N word, are now calling him hero. You just see whats going to happen in the next few months – Obama will get us sooo deep into military shit he will be a shoe in in the next election. We do not even know if Bin Laden WAS behind 9/11, there was no trial. I want the real people behind 9/11 to be caught, not the scapegoats like Bin Laden & Suddam Hussein. But then we’d have to take a good look at ourselves, particularly who was in the oval office at the time Bush and his oil and military industry conies. The FBI KNEW in 1996 there was a 9/11 type attack in the works involving planes flying into buildings, thought they dis NOTHING to tighten airline security. Osama Bin Laden is just a boogieman – if he was a mastermind, we are all in trouble.

I have mixed feelings about this. Glad the book on him is closed for all the victims on 911. Not just the 3000 + that died in the attacks on September 11, but all of their families, the brave men and women who worked tirelessly to try and rescue any survivors, but also the many that have died since chasing his sorry a$$ through the caves the muck that they were led around like little mice with a piece of cheese. I am relieved to know that through this mission, no soldiers lost their lives , in order to take his, because that would not be justice, to trade another life of an innocent for that of one of evil.

While many are cheering in the street last night, the guests at my home last night reacted a bit different. They suddenly felt a sense of doom, of what is to come, that is after that got over about the 5th , I this, I that. Interesting, all Obama supporters, served another round of wine to calm the masses. The book is not closed on Obama however for his supporters, if anything , he has just been lifted to a higher place. They should have dragged his butt out even if it mean in chains, tossed him in exile for the rest of his life and let him sit there alone, totally alone. I don’t believe in torture to get even, that in my mind makes me no better than them, but for him to sit in some filthy prison for the rest of his life , that would have been justice.

Why did we have to give him an appropriate Islamic burial? Oh yeah, answer on the is clear isn’t it? Re-election. Is this book really closed then. Hmmm, not so sure. Guess that negates my first paragraph, I am seeing lots of comments too by people who lost a loved one that , they wanted to see the body, no body, no closure.I get that. Pakistan, think anyone is going to really support them again right now, would they be so stupid in the middle of this?

Kate – great and thoughtful post, I do not think Pakistan was harboring Bin Laden ( as I said I think he died long ago) I do NOT think Pakistan would be so stupid as to give Bin Laden harbor – in a mansion – outside the capital, next to a military base – the thought is ridiculous. Pakistan will be the next country we invade – we are already bombing them via drones. Big week last week – 500 political prisoners ‘escaped’ from a prison in Afghanistan (500 WOW! How the heck does THAT happen?) It is said that these people have a lot of dangerous information and are hiding all through out the region. (reminds me of someone else and their supposed “weapons of mass destruction’). This gives us carte blanche to do anything we want to Pakistan now, in the ‘name’ of anti terrorism AND winning an election – NOTHING wins elections like the shedding of Muslim blood. No body? No kidding

We have become so used to our highest elected officials putting their personally beneficial spin on everything that it no longer shocks us when we do. It’s become the norm in America. Politicians lie, are self-serving crooks, and most can’t be trusted to baby sit your family dog. How did we get to here from there? Prayer in school is challanged as against some person’s civil rights (hmmm, In God We Trus??), governmental building can not put religious Christmas (OOPS) Xmas is what they call it now, on gov. properties. Well excuse me, but my forefathers fought and died so that we CAN have religious freedoms in America and I WIll pray where and when I want to. A Godless nation can not survive~!

As a non-Christian I understand the objection to the government appearing to favor Christianity. But I believe in freedom of religion. Christmas is the big holiday for Christians and should be allowed to be expressed as should all groups be allowed to express themselves. If we stand for anything in America it should be acceptance.
I think the objection to prayer in school is here in the south prayers are ended with in Jesus name, I have a hard time with that as altho I see him as a holy man I do not see him as God.
I do believe strongly in God and volunteer my time to a Christian outreach service. We should all be allowed to worship as we are called and that includes Christians, that I see being pushed aside lately. Acceptance means everyone.

I understand that there are people who aren’t satisfied with the long form of President Obama’s birth certificate, but I haven’t heard enough of the theory to see how that would lead to saying that Bin Laden has been dead for years and on ice and the news is just being released now because of the release of the birth certificate. The President is still in office, no one is trying to impeach him, and it is way to early for a lasting 2012 election impact. What would the purpose be of using Bin Laden now?

Though I am a liberal democrat, I am no fan of President Obama, I never was. Though I do believe he was born in Hawaii, I tend to believe that he most likely assumed Indonesian citizenship during his time there, and I also believe he was probably dishonest, or at least played the system in claiming to be an International student in college for what ever benefits that claim might have garnered him. He has never released any school records – though I DON’T think it’s necessary that he does. But I do have to say, if there is nothing to hide, why the delay in releasing the birth certificate and why the hesitation to release school records. I don’t think any of these questions will ever be answered. Good, bad or indifferent, he is the President

How was he able to travel to Pakistan in 1981? Did he have an Indonesian passport? Because Americans were not allowed in 1981. There are many valid questions that he has not answered. This country and the world, for that matter, is circling the drain because people have begun to accept mediocrity. People break the law and no one wants to accept the responsibility. Amen to that. When one perseon such as Madelyn Murray O’Hare managed to single handedly have prayer taken our of our school system it began a systematic downfall of values and integrity in our nation. Have you noticed how it’s becoming bad is good and good is bad? Nothing is what we once considered normal and decent in this nation. It frightens me, not for myself, but for my children and my grandchildren. What sort of world where will it be where one is prevented from desplaying their faith of choice in public? Funny thing is that M.M.O’Hare’s son William is a Christian Evangelist. Bet she’s rollin in her grave at that. My point is not pro-Christian, nor is it anti-athiest. My point is my rights as intended by our forefathers are being taken from me.@Dream:

The Navy Seals are a brave and patriotic group of servicement who performed a successful attack and deserved recognition, but as you pointed out, Obama used first person singluar in all his comments. It was unfortunate that he didn’t consider how his words could and would be interpreted. What I do not understand is how arrogance can be translated to mean racist? @Up the Coast:

WTF: That MLK quote was soooooooooo good, I hope you don’t mind if I repeat it. It’s “goosebump” material.

“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

And, I believe that this Godly man was killed because he was bringing unity to not only colors of people but ALL people, of religions and the like, and the “group” could not have that. They spent so many years creating that division. The devil is into division and separation.

I also believe that the same “group” who had him killed were the same ones who puts people in the office of the Potus. Dr. King would be ashamed of people of color calling others racist, and frankly so am I. Point one’s finger at another and there’s 3 pointing back to you, OR as we said when were kids, “take’s one to know one.”

Now, those who came here and introduced that vile “r” word here, go home and be ashamed in Jesus name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI all – wondering if anyone caught wind of something that happened the night of the president’s address to the nation (US). There was an anchor man on MSN and he was given a note with information to read on camera, live. It was about what Obama was going to announce. He immediately went ashen and got visibly upset. He was just about to read it when he was told NOT to read the note. They went to commercial and when they came back – that anchor was replaced and the new person said they got Bin Laden. Several people have suggested that the Bin Laden news was not what was originally supposed to be revealed, there is something else going on, but we can’t handle it. So, that is why the president’s address kept getting pushed back, he wanted to go forward with it but his advisers and others did not. During the morning of the press conference Obama went golfing, then later he sent the press corps home stating he was not going to be making any additional statements for the day and wouldn’t need them. An hour later he had them all called back for big news. Some would say Bin Laden’s death IS big news, but if he sent them home and an hour later called them back that makes no sense. He had to have time to do a DNA confirmation which would have taken longer than an hour and he would have known that he might need them there to make the announcement.
Do any of you know what the real story is? No one seems to be able to get info from the MSN anchor, but apparently it was shocking.

sorry went to bed it was getting too hot in here for me. I don’t like to argue, I will say tho the words of a man do not always leave us with the same impression as the attitude.
I felt people were expressing their feelings on the presidents speech, and altho the words may have been different the impression he left them with was felt by more than one person.

I don’t see the point in arguing with someones feelings, or opinions. An opinion can’t be wrong. Offering a different opinion is how we grow and learn to see thru others eyes. In short don’t post when your pissed it gets you in trouble every time. So you see I left. If I can’t read someone else post with out getting upset there’s no point it’s time to go and come back later, for me any way.

It is called a double standard. If they consider you to be one of “them”, you can do no wrong, no matter hate-filled your speech may be may or how vile your actions. And the pairing of quotes by MLK and hate speech is not seen as apalling at all. However, if one is an outsider then apparently no matter how innocent a comment is, they will find a way to make it, and you by extension, a problem and THERE WILL BE A SNIPER AT THE GATE OF HEAVEN waiting for you. Not that posting on a blog may be being taken a bit too seriously or anything.

*Personal note to all phony baloney’s (you know who you are) : Most bullies aren’t that smart to begin with, so they really shouldn’t get involved in a battle of wits :( I think your leader mislead you this time.

I know there is a new thread about the Jolie-Pitts, but I just have to say that I REALLLLLLY like this post, elephant! Very, very insightful.

It’s something I have pondered quite often. It really does NOT make sense that we are born on this Earth, where God has given us everything we need to survive, and we are NOT able to survive because someone tells us we cannot plant on this land or that land. Or we cannot drink this water or that water. Or, as you say, farmers are PAID to not plant or to destroy the very crops that would feed the starving. It makes no sense. Even wild animals share the same water hole. I have come to the conclusion that people are just plain weird.

My apologies to anyone that was offended by the mistake I made when I called OBL, by the Obama, that was not intentional, I was in a bit of rush with a family problem, wanted to comment on this subject, should have taken the time to proof my comment, so my own fault, but I apologize to anyone who was offended. I believe all should have respect for one each persons faith, especially if they lived in faith, which is why I made the comment about why, the Islamic burial? I doubt very much if any member of the First Family was killed by them that they would have extended such a benefit. More likely they would just be blown to bits with no ceremony, no memorial, nothing. I don’t quite get the may he burn in hell either out of the mouth of a Christian, (no offense) but I don’t believe that is exactly the teaching. There is a huge difference in Corporal punishment and personal , and that falls under personal. The way it has been explained to me is that , let God deal with evil, and MLK got it right in his heart, but then his faith was pure. I doubt he would be hanging here with me. He was a better person than I, that is for sure. One of our great men.

I remember when Timothy McVeigh was put to death. I felt great sorrow for his father, who apparently went to see him several times to get him to apologize for what he had done. He refused, many presumed so he could die a martyr. After his death our government came out with a report citing two other men that were involved , followed him on the week before his actions, and they strongly felt from what I read he was just the foot soldier, not the mastermind. That makes him no less guilty, but it is interesting how brainwashed one can become. It reminded me of the movie “Dead Man Walking” which was done so beautifully, although incredibly difficult to watch. There was so much in that film, for all involved. The opening scene was enough to make you get up and leave at that moment. The anguish of the family, the compassion of the Sister, the hardened heart of the Perp, incredibly woven together , portraying events that shattered the lives of many. Just as Oklahoma did, just as 911. How does one find the strength to forgive someone that has taken away their cherished loved one? Universal question.

MLK words were cited yesterday, and beautiful so. Theoretically if it were that easy, wouldn’t that be wonderful, wouldn’t the world be an amazing place? It isn’t though. While it is true forgiveness only brings healing to the wounded and unforgiveness continues to feed the pain, and erode away at ones life, it is not so easily achieved for parent or spouse or a child that has lost someone so brutally. I have seen many many exercise this concept in relationships, complete forgiveness , it has healed marriages, relationships with parents and children, that would forever be lost, a concept that not all can agree on. Same principle though. The only person it hurts when you do not try is you, not the other person, if the relationship is one you want to save. Easier in a marriage, much more difficult if you are burying your child.

I understand the pain that “whatever” feels and many that now have expressed over the last 24 hours and the anger. Doesn’t matter to many if he died 10 years ago or 2 days ago, many will still fall at the hands of evil that have been put in place, that have been put in place for a decade, the red flag has been waved. The closure will last as long as a guilty verdict, and then many will say the same as my friend who lost her daughter at the WTC , and her mother simply says, “I thought it would feel different, I don’t know what I expected” regarding his death. God Bless all the victims ,those who are already so, and those to come.

    * Please excuse any typos or mispoken words. No offense intended to anyone. jmho

No Vit, I’m not unaware. I just hope that as human beings we can all be a bit more tolerant and understanding of one another. When one’s trust has been breached by a person we once had respect for, it’s very difficult to understand being attacked rather than being offered an apology, and go on with the show. Too much was done that perhaps you aren’t aware of??, but either way the truth (with hard copy proof) usually comes out. Our words live forever on the Internet. You post to Vic:

“But as for posting things on Ian’s blog, I wouldn’t let anyone censor you. I think Ian believes in free speech and doesn’t take this whole blog malarkey very seriously at all.”

And then you said to UTC:

“Why not come back as another username and start over or something – no-one would notice! lol”

My question is if Ian believes in “free speech” amd not taking things too seriously, which I believe he does, why would Ian want UTC to come back with a different user name and start over?

That’s a total contradiction of what Ian believes and would be a form of censorship for what UTC believes then!

UTC should be allowed to say whatever she feels, as should we all. JMHO ;)

Nah, didn’t mean that, just meant from the point of view that she had rather embarrassed herself by letting her true colours show after quite a long period of extensive and comprehensive arse-kissing. Just thought one option might be to come back as another username and start the arse-kissing from scratch or something. As for Ian, I really don’t think he gives an eff about this, individual posters or what is said to be perfectly honest. I think Ian – like most people – has a life!

I watched a doc last night about an American woman who created a fake persona on Facebook and created a whole completely fake life for herself including fake friends which she pretended to be on the phone to some guy who thought they were having a romance. In reality she had a really tough life raising two disabled boys and felt she had given up her potential career as an artist and was trapped. The fake persona was escapism for her and an opportunity to live out a life on the internet she felt she’d missed out on in real life. It was very apposite I thought.

Keane – I read that 50% of all Americans are on FB – that is a staggering amount for one social network. This woman must have been really desperate – I actually feel sorry for her that she felt she had to go to such lengths to create a semblance (albeit fake) of a life for herself. She must have been really lonely!! There has been a show on CNBC (I think) about the FB phenomenon.
