Pop-Ed: Chances are, if you pick up a tabloid or go to a gossip site on any given day, you’ll likely plant your eyes on some sort of item about Jennifer Aniston. Whether it’s about her singledom or past romances, publications will do pretty much anything to get Jen in their magazine. Take, for example, Jen’s involvement in the cover story in the March issue of Architectual Digest. It’s simply a feature where the much-loved actress shows off her home, right? Nope. Apparently, according to Us Magazine, it was a “pathetic” attempt to get back at Brad Pitt. Really? If that’s Jen’s idea of revenge, she’s quite terrible at plotting.
What we’re getting at here is that no matter what Jen does, she somehow finds herself with tertiary headlines claiming it was somehow related to her love life or a ploy to amp up publicity for a movie.
In response to Jen’s recent cover, Brad Pitt — so says . Us sources — “feels this is all so desperate” and that it was all Jen’s “ploy to get his attention.” Yes, we’re sure Brad Pitt, in between being a father to his six children, juggling a vastly successful movie career and going far and beyond with his charity work, is all bent about Jen’s motives for showing off her fancy house. Since her divorce from Pitt in 2005, Aniston has been nothing but classy in dealing with the ramifications of the massive split. Consider the current landscape with Jesse James, Tiger Woods and others. It was pretty obvious at the time that Brad and Angelina were the spark plug for Aniston’s divorce. They even later admitted to shacking up while filming ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ — which was shot while Jen and Brad were still married.
Even when Jen posed naked — covered only by a perfectly-placed necktie — in GQ magazine, a lot of the attention came thanks to her quotes about Brad in the interview. “Jennifer Aniston Just Can’t Button Up Over Brad Pitt,” read a headline on the Boston Herald. Yep, you read correctly. That’s not from a questionable tabloid magazine, but a daily, major city newspaper.
Even this month, one blog declared that Aniston “has yet to move away from Brad Pitt,” claiming that they were “hugging and kissing” each other recently. Ya’hum.
Aniston’s new directorial ambitions even somehow get lumped into her personal past. Blogger Perez Hilton — who not-so-nicely refers to Jen as “Maniston” — reported that she just signed on to direct a movie for the first time. One sentence later: “Take that Angelina Jolie!”
And what of the reported relationship between Jen and her ‘Bounty Hunter’ co-star Gerard Butler? You know, the one that everyone speculated about but neither ever confirmed? Jen called the assertion that she’d fake a romance for attention “just insulting,” but a Google search of “Jen Aniston Gerard Butler Dating” will yield you nearly 9 million results. (Full disclosure: PopEater is the first result … with a question mark).
Will the Aniston dam ever break, and we’ll all live in a world in which she can do anything — whether it’s direct a movie or just buy a pair of jeans — without it being somehow attributed to her past marital woes? Sadly, it doesn’t seem all that feasible.
ReplyMichael has been seen with CZJ all over NY and has given a lot of interviews about having to need Cialis et. al. at his age now so I doubt it’s him….I saw Prince in concert once and he was in the round with me in first row so I was way excited to think he had to go right past me and he did…in a box lol he’s way too reclusive. Isn’t that Jessica Simpson? She’s gotta be doing something to be called sexual napalm…I’ll go with sweet little Jessica lol…

I expect he’s been saying that because he got caught cheating on CZJ by the son that’s just gone to prison and they were going to split but are now trying to work it out. Men don’t tend to talk about their erectile disfunction problems publicly unless they have something pretty major they’re trying to hide!

Yah, I’d go with that too. But I wouldn’t give an eff though would you? He has apparently cheated on her for years and she is known to be a horror so who cares what they do really. Now if Ian had some dirt on Shakira or Taylor Swift I might be interested as they both come across as if butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths in public. Shakira I think seems genuinely to be a good person, Taylor Swift seems to be trying her hardest to look like one IMO. JMO!

They always lie about their age though, I would say she is probably early to mid-20’s. Miley too is quite clearly WAY older than she claims to be. And I think the dirt on both of them would probably reflect that. Believe me when I say I had generated enough dirt myself by the age of 23 to keep any self-respecting tabloid choc-full of scandals for years to come! I got it all out of my system young though and I am a veritable angel now by comparison. Although I am now planning on going into my second teenagehood – gotta enjoy the young, free and single life while I still can!
And Jessica well yeah, hot butt, but look at how she is sticking it out. That is just gross in my opinion. It is screaming “put your doo-da in me big boy” which to me is not a great look. Rihanna does it in her rude boy video too A LOT and I’m always like ugh girl, gross, I think they all know where they’re supposed to put it now – please quit that!
And crouching tiger I agree that Angelina needs to get a new script, no-one cares about her dullsville pregnancy stories any more, she has done this angle to death! It is quite clear to me now that 95% of everything Angelina has done in the public eye in her whole life has been for publicity. It is clearly very scripted and she has a planned message that she has been told to get out there during the interview. Take another look at the video that Ian linked to below. The one where she is talking about Maddox she is clearly trying to make sure she says the line: “He has made me a woman”. Other notable lines fed to her by her PR in order to get publicity of course include: “It’s rare for children to see the film on which their mom and dad fell in love”, “Refugees are fleeing from terror”, “I have taken a lover” and “I was just a shoulder to cry on because Brad wasn’t getting any children already”. The public snogging with BBT was just as scripted and aimed at garnering publicity as her cosying up to Brad on the red carpet was and is. All completely fake and all aimed at the express outcome of getting her talked about. It is what 95% of her career has been based on. We have all been mugs for falling for it for as long as we did. Problem is now is that Angelina can only talk in bullet points and has never developed the intellectual or communication skills to have proper conversations when interviewed. All she knows how to do is remember a line and repeat it. Tres amusant.

ReplyVery good PR. Although I don’t believe Jolie is too far (give or take a year or 2) from the age she claims since she was only 4 or 5 when she made her first appearance in “Looking To Get Out”. As for Liz I have no idea. Isn’t Catherine Zeta Jones older than she claims? I read a blind awhile back where an actress’ birth date didn’t match on her license, ss#, etc and her hubby found out. Something about getting into a White House function. Not sure where I read it but most of the major guesses were her. Anyone else remember that? Plus a lot of bloggers are always making snide comments about her age and the way she lies about it.
Oh yeah I meant to ask…is that really Sarah Palin in that pic? Or is it photoshopped??? I could have sworn I have seen Lilo in a pic similar to that.

As to Sarah Palin:
1. That picture was photoshopped, but it was one of the better ones. Palin’s body actually looks very similar to that; because she keeps herself in top physical condition she is blessed (or cursed, since she is in politics) with “pornstar body”, which is why she is forced to wear the glasses around all the time.
2. There is no sex scandal involving Palin. One of the frustrating things for her opponents on the Left was the inability for them to make an old National Enquirer story about a 1980’s partnership between her and one of Todd’s business partners turn into a sex scandal. This story comes back from time to time when the WH wants to float trial balloons to see which bit of opposition research will stick to Palin, but thus far, nothing they’ve done has been able to take her out.
3. Maryline Blackburne, who won the Miss Alaska pageant in 1984, is running for the Georgia State House seat in her Atlanta district. Though I’m a conservative, I wish her luck. She’s an extremely talented individual and public service is always praiseworthy. I imagine the ongoing Palin story gave her the politics bug.
ReplyTaylor has never hid her age. She turned 20 in December. I don’t know why anything would think she’s 17. I do think the scandal will be her, however, and involving John Mayer.
