Angie Moving Tribute to Mom – Why go Public?
Sources close to Jolie told IUC today the A-List actress was not planning on making this video public. Although this video is certainly a beautiful, emotional tribute people close to Jolie claim it’s another act of Jolie’s master misdirection, trying to elicit sympathy for her during an emotional breakup with Brad. Well, why would you make a video, if not for other people to see it? And if not for public consumption, then who was the intended audience – its not AJ and her brother, they made it . . and I doubt its for Jon Voight. It would be odd if it was for the kids too. So, I call ’shenanigans’ on the whole situation.

Even TMZ who normally write something witty, sarcastic or in the case of sad news, give their condolences just gave the facts and confirmed that it was from AJ and her bro…. and thats it, no comments other than stating the facts. They know its a PR stunt, given the timing….
ReplyHaving experienced the one year loss of my mother this January. I can understand emotion. I was there when my mother died and had to code her. The bottom line is why now .. Why not at her 1st anniversary or even her even her second. To me this speaks volumes to PR . I will give her the benefit of the doubt. But, It seems just a little to convenient
ReplyWell, Marcia Lynne Bertrand died January 27th, 2007. I would have thought if it were truly a memorial to her memory, it should have been released on the first anniversary of her death, rather than the third anniversary during a turbulent time in her relationship with her partner that was generating masses of bad press. It makes her motives suspect imo. Especially as neither Angie nor her brother James made the effort to be with their mother as she lay dying; she died alone.

ReplyI think also the video is an attempt to make her look like she was a devoted loyal daughter. but was she really? her mom was very ill in Chateau Marmont while she went all the way to Namibia to give birth robbing her mom of the chance to be part of her first biological grandchild’s birth. just selfish. they totally bought into the Messiah child crap that they had to go along and make it look fitting and exotic and mysterious .. her PR machination is never at rest ..
It seems a bit crass to me. Is nothing sacred to her, not even special memories of her mother? My mum died of cancer and, were I do to something like that, I do believe she would probably die all over again .

It was pulled simply because it didnt garner the support and sympathy it was supposed to – it definitely backfired big time! People are that gullible all of the time….

Replya video of a parent that has pasted on is a private and special thing not something u use for pr and show the world. i thought these two morons could not sink any lower but they prove me wrong time and again. i have no respect for her or peewee and hope they stick together as the ageing and misery is what they deserve and the kids well i feel for them. she had all the time and money to be able to have hads her mom at home with her and hired a private nurse to look after her that way she could have share her last year with the kids and not stuck by herself and i am sure she must have been very lonely. we kept my dad at home and looked after him ourselves when he had dementsia even though we could not afford a private nurse we wanted him to die with people that loved him, she and peewee are the two most horrible self centered stars i have ever read about as well as the joke of the world and so they will be remembered not as humaterians but as assholes and homewreckers and baby collectors which is all they deserve. jmo

ReplyAs soon as I saw the video I thought “deflection.” It’s a beautiful piece of work that should have been kept within the family, as those are the people who loved her and knew her. Why is it important to the rest of the world to show this? To post it on the web and then say “Oh, that shouldn’t have been out there for everyone to see” is a joke. I have no doubt they miss their mother, but using it in this fashion is – at least to me – disgusting. But I will say it worked, because all of a sudden the Angie/Brad stories left the web for awhile and were replaced with the video.

The thing is she has used these tactics for such a long time and she has got away with it. Her and her people think the public are gullible because they have been gullible. Look how everyone lapped up that getting teary-eyed when talking about her mother stunt at the press conference for Changeling. She did that to deflect from Jen’s “uncool” comment and it worked, people bought it and virtually no-one in the press commented on it. So of course they are going to try it again. The public was stupid enough to buy it before, so why shouldn’t they now James and Geyer must be thinking. But they don’t realise they are overplaying their hand and if they push this angle much further the world will cotton on to it and realise how evil Angelina actually is. A woman who is prepared to exploit the death of her mother to deflect from all the negative stories about her and the split with Brad? She will be perceived as the monster that she is. So Geyer/James, keep on playing that card, and let’s just see what will happen.

You see, sometime yesterday, Angelina Jolie and her brother posted a video tribute on YouTube to their late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, on the three-year anniversary of her death (the video has since been pulled down). The video consisted of touching footage from a trip the three of them took to Hawaii in 1981 and was scored with Israel “Iz” Kamakawiwo‘ole’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” (yes, the same one you hear during the PowerPoint “Look at how we fell in love!” portion of every single rehearsal dinner you’ve attended in the last five years and yes, the same one that Vulture bestie Dan Kois wrote a totally awesome book about). What was stunning about the video was how intimate and personal it was, which are two things you rarely see coming from the tightly controlled Brangelina camp.
However, around 10:45 this morning (when we were originally writing this post up), the soundtrack of the video changed. The original YouTube posting credited Kamakawiwo‘ole and even instructed viewers that the song was available for download in the iTunes store, but for some reason, the soundtrack got swapped out for a generic piece of instrumental music so bland that it would’ve even made George Winston ralph. Then, just fifteen minutes later, the entire video was removed from YouTube.

ReplyAfter taking care of my mother until the day she died, and having her there with me, I know how blessed I was….there were reports somewhere yesterday that she and James and Brad were with her when she died, is that wrong? and, trust me, my mother and father never encouraged my siblings and me to kiss each other or have sex with each other, sooooo where did Angelina get that behavoir??? ReplyMarcia Lynne Bertrand became Marchilene for her career in films, she also claimed to be French, but was in fact French/Canadian, not the country of France. The Indian heritage she claimed was phony also. Lying seems so easy to this bunch. I just cannot see how someone in Hollywood that is such a big star would not know about copyright infringements – it’s not something that isnt discussed much there… whoever actually posted it knew enough about it to instruct people they could download it from the iTunes store when it was first posted.
I can only surmise and speculate that either AJ and her bro didnt do the actual video – someone else did it on her instructions and they chose the music – AJ probably told them to choose something sappy and sentimental – but maybe the person doing the video didnt understand about copyright in music…. and getting permission etc etc and they added the song…..
Maybe it was pulled because of the copyright issue – money that now needs to be handed over for every time it was played and the NY Post quoted over 310,000…..
But still…. gotta question the motives for posting it in the first place…..
ReplyI think whenever Jolie needed reinventing she ran home to mommy to make it all better. Jolie was lucky to have parents that were there for her when she treats them like crap until needed. Yes she probably does miss mom at this time (everytime Jolie crashed there were pictures of her and her loving mom in the rag mags) since mom is dead, she did the next best thing. It was no accident, she wants sympathy. Her family needs to step in and get her help. real help.

But then someone with an oversized ego, who gets everything handed to them regardless of their behavior, cultivates a sense of entitlement–as beautifully explained by Cindy Adams in a link provided by Char on the drug den thread. Maybe whoever produced it thought the link to itunes was enough, or that it was meant for family and not to be posted on you tube, or that surely this obscure little musician would be so honored and gratified by this flattering attention of the queen that he won’t complain about his intellectual property being used without his permission.
She grosses me out even more now, who wouldn’t be right there when there “beloved” mother dies? Gross, tacky, and what a skank! Now using it 3 years later to garner sympathy? No words can describe how absolutely disgusting she is! At least she doesn’t fool me, and from what I see, most of the people in this World, LOL…

I think everyone is sick of them. I think the media is sick of printing their fake stories and getting nothing out of it. Besides people who are really into this type of gossip, no one believes the break up rumors because there have been so many. I think overall they have played out every possible fake scenario for this couple and it is time to end. Media outlets have been given a more solid piece of split information and are going to run with it and expose whatever they can in my opinion. I think Jolie’s act has almost run outt… and truthfully what guy can she scoop up next after Brad Pitt? Regardless of the fact that people think she will come out on top I truly think Brad will. People love him becasue he was always kinda goofy & completely handsome in a guy next door kind of way – she was never really LOVED – people are just facinated with her bizarre behavior but now she’s just washed up.

My gosh eonline is losing it’s grip, what a crock of bs. For anyone to go to the lengths that they listed there to snub and awards ? lol and for a character that was small, and not likely to be nominated anyway, which he knew of course. Highly doubt with all the drama Brad is dealing with , that psycho mom, losing his children, and trying to get his films off the ground, his gives much thought to snubbing the Oscars. That is the silliest thing I have read yet. I am sure he would like to win , but more so for a part that is worthy, not a character supporting role that does not spend that much time on the screen, and she is up for nothing. Geez people are reaching. They just can not accept that they are over. Did everyone see the story about Brad and Angie having dinner when the news of the split was announced and they laughed. right. To this day, I believe she was the mastermind behind the media flipping on Jen. She is conniving, manipulative, and ruthless when it comes to getting what she wants. This woman will do whatever to come out on top and she don’t care if it destroys Brad, just like she didn’t care about Jen. For some reason, there is something about her that fascinates people and the loons on JJ will definitely take her side. Brad on the other hand is boring and lacks a personality. I may be the only one that notice but it seems the guy morphs into whatever woman he is dating. Neither can survive alone. Brad will be looking for the next woman to emulate because he has no idea who he is; Angelina will be looking for the next man who she think will improve her career and image. Hell, this may just ruin them both.

Poking fun at them, letting them know that the media is on to their game, but I think Brad knows that, she probably does not care. I bet he does and that is why he looks the way he does. He cares about his image, and right now it is not good, but I agree with Lizzie, I also think Brad will be the one with staying power, not Jolie. He is the one with the connections, the star power, not her. Angie has not one film really that was good except GI and GIA and she played herself. The rest were comic. She is just a tabloid queen at this point whereas people go to films to watch Brad. Her action flicks may hang in, and JD may carry her, but with all her problems and the way she is aging, the drugs, Brad has it way over her. Strong family for support, good support system in the industry, people generally just like him. If he can break away from her he will be okay. Angelina, people are tired of, she may though stay in the news with her Humanitarian efforts, although people now are not even paying much attention to her on that anymore. Too much crying wolf. She has just played too many cards and people are tired of her. Maybe in Europe she will be big. Brad just needs to get cleaned up, smile again, and he will be back on game. jmho

but right now people just are not seeing that. He is not going to let her bury him, people may think he is ball less, but he has put 20 years into this industry, and he came into it to be a famous movie star, he is not going to let her destroy him, no way. It will get vicious before that ever happens. She may be manipulative, but Brad was at the media game long before AJ ever was and he knows the ins and outs of it. He just does it in a more subliminal way. I would bet he has enough on her to completely ruin her career if it came to hers against his. Being a mid western family guy at his roots he may not want to do that, being she is the mother of his children, but if it is his career on the line, she will go down before he will. Brad is all about image, always was. I bet he would even give up every child before he would give up his career, as much as he loves the kids. Remember Tyler, that is the real Brad Pitt inside. He may be passive aggressive on the outside, but on the inside he is all Fight Club. all the way. That is why all his friends and the director all said, that was the one character that was really him. He is rebellious by nature, and if she pushes him to hard and tries to do to him what she did to Jen , she will be toast. Brad may have asked her to stop her nasty campaign about Jen, but he did not stop it , did he? He knows what she is capable of. jmo though.. time will tell us all who the real star here is. Let’s not forget the campaign the National Enquirer unleashed on John Edwards and Tiger Woods, I bet we will see the same unleashed on Angelina Jolie, not Brad Pitt in time, she has held them off for the time being, just as Tiger did. Brad has been there watching all the vicious things she has done over the years, so he knows first hand, better than anybody, what this woman is capable of. Maybe, just like me, she is underestimating him. But, I hope you are wrong about if push come to shove, he will give up the kids for his career. LOL. That is just awful. ReplyPattyanne, I thought AJ was at her mother’s bedside when she died, as well as Pitt and her bro, and that the mother extracted a promise from AJ that she would marry Brad … her dying wish. That’s how I remembered it so I looked it up just now and read that she and Pitt flew into LA to Cedars Sinai from NOLA to be there when the mother took a turn for the worse. Anyway, I think it can be said that she did not spend all that much time with her mother in her last year of life and for all of her professions of devotion and closeness I never understood why she would travel halfway around the world from her mother to have her first child. Most mothers have powerful emotions when their daughters give birth for the first time and definitely want to be nearby for the event and it struck me as selfish of Jolie to have the child in Namibia for some half baked notion of her children being “citizens of the world” or some such nonsense. Perhaps the mother was in Namibia, but I can’t find any reference to it, so she read it in People like the rest of us, and 7 months later she was gone. For this and many other reasons I find the video tribute to be very self serving which is always her m.o.
As soon as I heard about this video, the first thing that came to mind was Ian’s book, Brangelina, which detailed Angie’s mastery of MISDIRECTION!
ReplyMarchaline spent her last christmas and Thanksgiving without Angelina and she was already seriously ill when Shilo was born so was not in Namibia. Marcheline also died without Angelina being there, they arrived a few hours AFTER her death was reported. Later interviews had Angie telling fables about her sitting by the bedside and the media refused to call her on it, nobody tells a bald faced lie as well as Angie does. Marcheline never actually got to meet her only grandaughter in the flesh, hows that for loving your mother. I guess Angie was too busy saving the world. Angie is a master at changing history to suit her current needs.

I think people just get more affected by it when they see it as an unfair war, when one party is so overtly bad and really trying hard to ruin the other person’s life/career and may succeed….
But, you have to consider that BP is (or was) a willing participant. He “enables” her to do what she does by not doing/saying anything to stop it, whether it be because he’s scared of it ruining his career or his image or whatever, he is still allowing it to happen and that means she (AJ) has the upper hand because she does all sorts of crazy stuff (pashing her brother at the Oscars, carrying a vial of BBT blood on a chain, using knives, cutting herself etc etc, the list is too long to mention) and yet, people still buy her BS and she is still popular….. That is probably the reason why Ian thinks she will come out on top after the break-up comes out publicly….
Oh one other thing I thought was hilarious in a satirical way, one of the magazines (cant remember which one) stated that AJ and BP had a “romantic dinner date” albeit with other people about a week or so ago, so obviously the break-up romours have got to be false. This is the evening where AJ is in a knitted tight tube dress where she looks shocking and there is a total distance between them….. yeah right, romantic date all right…. lol
