Meanwhile, I’m kind of curious why Angelina got so many covers this week. She hasn’t given any interviews in a while, she’s not promoting anything, and there really isn’t any new information about her, truly. One theory I have for this media saturation is that both Ian Halperin and Andrew Morton (both of whom are about to release books on Angelina soon) are starting to “leak” to the tabloids, trying to get some early buzz for their books. We’ll see.

ReplyI have yet to come across a Brangelina posting where someone can provide me with an explanation as to why these people have such a loyal following. It boggles my mind that there are individuals who have not seen through this PR veil. I could get into a million things but I think I’ll save it for when the book comes out. As for this post, a few thoughts,
The only people who need this triangle to continue are BP&AJ. Without this love triangle they would fade into obscurity and not be half of the “mega-stars” that they are now. Jennifer on the other hand can get more press from dating new guys. BP&AJA only have the Jen drama to keep people excited in them. My belief is that AJ occasionally will put out these stories to stay relevant bc the only other choice she has is to parade her fake family around with BP, who she cannot stand. I have yet to hear an explanation from a Brangelina fan as to why the family is only photographed when there is bad press or something to promote. No other couple does this, they use the paparazzi even though their fans think they love privacy. They use the charities they participate in. They use their children. Someone please explain to me how they can be defended by a sane person!

It’s fueled purely by Brad and principally Angelina babe, but yes the mags do pretty well out of it too. And they’ll do just as well with trashing her when they split too. All she is is a highly marketable story to them, tabloids do not have any loyalty to anyone. The biggest mistake she ever made was thinking she could control the press, it’s going to come back to bite her in the ass in a major way. The harder they come, the harder they fall, I think is what they call it.
So Ian – was one of the nasty rumours that Angelina spread about Jen was that she was gay? I assume the main one was that she was too selfish to have children? Just wondering.

Angelina has made her career on the back of PR, she works that publicity like a truck-stop hooker with a $1000 a day habit to feed. Everyone in the media industry knows she is the creation of PR alone and the majority of it comes down to her own devices. Oh my God mia if we’ve been through this once we’ve been through it a hundred times. Stories about a split aren’t negative if they paint Angelina as the wronged victim are they? They have split so they have to spin their way out of it somehow. Angelina’s angle is to accuse Brad of being a drunk and of course bring the usual scapegoat Jennifer Aniston back into the mix again as she has done all along. And say for example Angelina had lost a lot of weight because she had a serious drug habit or life-threatening illness contracted through say drug use for example, it would be smart to leak a story to the press saying she is on some extreme diet because she is so “insecure” or that she can’t eat because she is still grieving for her mother or the death of her relationship with Brad right? Or when she looked botox-ed out to the max at Cannes to leak a story about her use of some nonsense skin-pricking device which she apparently uses to maintain a youthful complexion rather than having an ounce of plastic surgery! Well that’s a step in the right direction, however, her mental issues are well documented, by her mother’s words, as well as her father’s pleas for her to seek help. There is nothing “wrong” with being ill, but there is something “wrong” with not seeking help for it, if not for herself, then for her children. Everything put out there now is part of Angie’s damage control plan for the big announcement of her breakup with her current partner. It’s simply the way it’s done in HW. Angie will go her way, as will Brad. Jennifer has nothing to do with it other than being the person who was damaged by the actions that broke up her marriage. No Mia, I work for “respectable” broadcasters, not “respectible”. And no Mia there is not a vast amount of difference between broadsheets and the tabloid press. And yes I have friends and work with people who are journalists on broadsheets and I have friends and work with people who are journalists on the tabloids, and I have friends who are freelance and work on both. They are basically two different styles, and they actually find the tabloid stuff harder. People labour under the misapprehension that there is a vast difference between “respectible” publications such as The Times and rags such as The Sun. That is in fact far from the truth and there is actually more similarities between them than differences nowadays. Broadsheets have become tabloidised (more pictures, celeb stories etc) in order to compete and the borders have been blurred. And besides, both The Times and The Sun are owned and controlled by the same person, Jolie’s chum Rupert Murdoch, there is no great difference. So here concludes my little lecture on the media for your benefit Mia. Do us all a favour, do a media studies course or something, you’d save me a lot of time.
And I don’t need to know Jolie to know she does what all other celebs and their PRs do, it is more than obvious about her coverage in the press. She is just better at it than all other celebrities, or has been recently. We’ll see how the next few years go. I have said before that she is the Max Clifford of the celebrity world (google him), and I will also says she is the Houdini of the PR world. She has got her ass out of one unbelievable amount of shit over the years, I’m not sure anyone has more skeletons to conceal than her. Not sure how much longer her tricks are going to be believed though. That smoke is looking mighty thin these days and those mirrors really could do with a polish. Keep sticking to your “the tabs make up everything about Jolie because it sells, it sells!” or the “it’s all the work of the dastardly Huvane” theory if you like though Mia. ReplyThat is certainly not very good damage control. Anyone out there in this economy readintg that would see right through it, it sounds so staged, just like that People Magazine cover. Doing dishes ha! while the kids run around and squeal in delight, please. The more she hails herself as a regular mom, the more she will find herself being ripped apart. Seems the latest craze is actors coming clean and talking about their deepest and darkest secrets. Most publicist would have advised her to release the bad info before anyone else could, except she thinks she knows more than anyone else. They love to build stars up, and they love to tear them down, especially when they lie…
As for 2010, sorry, when children are involved anyone can fake it for years and years and years. Does that mean they are really together. Just think about any couple that has tried to hide a break up for their status in the community where one has turned the other cheek. Does that mean they are really together?

Granted, the triangle is a selling tool the rags rely on–heavily. But all of them covering one angle or another at the same time? Are you telling there’s nothing out there on Gosselins, or Fergie and Josh, or Tomcat that’s worthy of one cover?
Observe the tone of these articles. The tide has totally turned on AJ this week. Why or how, I don’t know. I would suspect that the books are part of it. But I would also wager that all of this is part of a publicity war between AJ and BP prior to the “please respect our privacy at this difficult time” announcement.

alif i totally agree they should stay together and in that way nobody else will be pulled into the circus mess. i think pee boy is now so hooked on the pr and the way of life jolie has drawn him into that he would never be able to have a quite and normal relationship with anybody that wants to live a normal life. and to take on 6 or more kids as a new partner would be fatale for any decent woman with mis holie jolie in the back ground. they should really do a reality show and i am sure you would have 1000000 of people watching this trainwreck and wishing they would retire soon. i for one am sick of seeing them in the tabs and hearing about there lives and kids it feels like they even let you know when they are going to the loo. jmo

Yes, he’s on “sunny side of 50″, now. Nearing middle age! Things will slow down. But if he can drink moderately, certain potables can help him age well. From what I’ve read, that isn’t easy for him. Still might be on the “safe” side on the disease chart.

Some big news broke for movie junkies on Nov. 4: Johnny Depp is in talks to join Angelina Jolie in the sexy spy thriller The Tourist. It will be the first time the duo have ever worked together. But the news was even more surprising because it completely contradicted a promise Angelina had made just weeks earlier. In an interview in the October issue of the British magazine Stylist, she said she intended to take a break from acting in part to focus on being a full-time mom to her six young children with Brad Pitt. “Maybe a film a year or every other year, and then I’ll phase things out.”

This is why I have a hard time believing halperin. Why would Angie have been on the set of Troy. It was finished in 2004. Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005. She would not have been on the set at all. A simple fact check with IMDb would confirm this.

Alif and jan/sa, I’m sorry to barge in on your conversation(I usually just lurk around) but I found it really interesting about Brange’s roles being reversed. I’ve been imagining how astounded Brad must have been when Ange finally decided to stop the deceptive personality she used to capture his interest. If it was a gradual thing or if bam! she took over saying this is how it is. I think he was always accustomed to being the one in charge. All these much younger girlfriends that he could dominate. I always imagined with Jen she was subtle about the everyday decisions and it appeared a partnership but his comfort came before her own. What a shock when the real Angelina decided to put in an appearance!

Not exactly , that is not the set time for the start of filming. It is in pre-production now. The start date is January 2010, that is getting ready, training, etc. They will begin filming in February, and they are shooting for a 2011 release date.
Wanted 2 is also in pre-production for a release date in 2011. If she does do this film she will begin it after she is finished with The Tourist.
Brad has been working the last few weeks trying to nail down a director for Moneyball, when they make a decision between these two guys, it will be set, everything else is in place, seems to be.
Lost City is to start sometime early 2010, so unless one of them gives up some films, they are going to overlap, and she definitely is not staying home with the kiddies, and unless both his projects fall through, neither is he.

Gucci, lol yeah with Leo, lets hope he does not do it. I don’t think I could watch it then. I love Leo, but with her, nooo. She also is rumored for Scarpetta, but again, these are all set for a 2011 release. She can’t do all of them, that would be 4 films…plus Kung Fu and the Kathy Lynn Austin Project for 2010 (also still in development), so baby mama is going to be busy if these all come through.

Earlier this evening, I was at the supermarket. There on the front page of The ENQUIRER was Angie, with the headline, ANGELINA COLLAPSES, or something close to that.

Behind me, the guy I can only describe as Mr. Six Pack, began to loudly talk about Angie; how he saw a movie with her in it that he didn’t know was directed by Clint Eastwood, blah! blah! blah! Instead of looking to his wife, he seemed to need an audience; so he focused on me.
I couldn’t speak with this guy. What he doesn’t percieve about Brangie could fill a book!
I couldn’t get out of there fast enough!
One can dream…. wouldn’t it be amusing if she went after Depp and he very publicly turned her down.

ReplyI don’t know if anybody notices but I do..that there seems to be an increasing amount of american celebs doing bad stuff. THEN, after they got what they wanted; i.e. massive media coverage, they then conveniently go on an apology tour of sorts. They know that most of the american public have a very short attention span. And previous offenders got off lightly after they apologized.

alif: here in south africa we have our famous people as well that do wrong and get caught out, when they admitt it people will maybe let it go the first time but after that they do not forget and you will find less and less interest and public appearances and then they just fade away. i think we are one of the countries that pay little attention to stars that visite here we are to busy with our own lives and problems to care about them. even our own stars think the brad pees and the seagals are idiots and think they are gods gift to earth. but we do like to pick them apart and laught at them. what is stupid is that these stars come here with bodygaurds and yet nobody even notices them or disturbs them so one bodygaurd would be enought and they must be at least under 30 years old because it is only the singers and bands that get any interest from our youth. i watched a move last night and they had this bad guy demand that money be transfered to a bank in south africa and had to laught because i told my nephew that they must think we are a really a backwards country but that they would arrive here and most likely the money would be missing never to be found again. and yes do check out the spiritual stories and enjoy the life you normally lead but please post ever now and again as you have a very interesting and good point of view on life and the brand that i enjoy., as well as being one of the friendly people here. jmo
Replycapri: it is really no shock that a woman and men sometimes put on a whole different personality when they meet somebody they want to trap. some get knocked up and others are quick to tell the other person how awfull the wife or husband is and then they praise the guy/girl and make them think the worst of the wife/hubby and protray themselves as totally opposite to that person and the guy thinks he has met the perfect other half. but once the trap is sprung they revert back to their normal self, deception is hard to keep up for ever. all new things become old just like the previous marraige and then we only have trust, friendship and loyalty left as marriage is just like a job and requires hard work to keep it going. jmo

South Africa is one nation that I only read about. Besides the political situation of some time back, there are the minor news items such as the blond surfer who was attacked by a shark. It was on the sports channel.
So it was good to read about the country’s attitude towards celebs.
Between now and Christmas, it’s going to be hectic at times. Thanksgiving coming up.
I remember when I was attending a university in California, I was talking with a Swedish student. And thanksgiving was coming up. She expressed amazement that a whole country would be dining on turkey that one day.
So it’ll be busy. Will still find time to check the board though. Maybe put in my two cents.

I know what they’ll say – “It’s because we detected profanity” – but my posts have never contained profanity of any kind – just the plain truth in a much better form than the style of many of the posts there. Here is the comment they deleted today only seconds after I made it:
“Angelina wasn’t sexually abused as a child – she was spoilt rotten by her stubborn, shallow, permissive mother who let her have whatever she wanted to have just to spite Jon Voight – including a live-in boyfriend at an age when no mother in her right mind would let that happen. Oh, wait! How about some early rehearsals of that “sisterly kiss” she gave to her brother in public ten years later? Now, that may qualify as a sexual abuse, though it looks rather consensual to me. I have noticed that the most vulgar and childish posts always remain but those that express a thought always disappear – it’s almost as if someone has told them: “Leave only the vulgar ones: they don’t harm Jolie; they just make all her enemies look like scumbags out to get ger and her a saint!” For some reason, it looks like someone doesn’t want the world to know that there are intelligent people making posts agaunst her because they despise the fact that someone like her is so lauded!
It’s almost as if my alias have been put into their computer and all my posts get deleted as soon as they appear on their topics about Jolie.
