Ok I don’t have a clue who this woman is and I would prefer it to remain that way so I’m just gonna blow right past it and talk about what I want to talk about. Which is: has anyone noticed that Angelina has been doing more and more obvious endorsements lately? First for the palm pre, and now for The Gap. Do we think this is because she hasn’t got the big cash cow of selling photos of her babies to rely on as she has been called out on this too much? Plus she isn’t booking too many films these days. And God alone knows how many millions she’s been shelling out lately on lawyer’s fees and buying off negative press, and private jets to all the world’s danger zones on her desperate last. So I’m thinking more and more blatant endorsements is going to be the way forward. Was that cake mix lady one too?

And in other news, can I just run this by people:

Re: SALT – they’re not actually going to release that film right? It’s a joke, isn’t it? Isn’t it?! You cannot be telling me that that is an actual film!!!! Ok, I am predicting that this will be one of the biggest cult bombs of cinematic history (in a Showgirls-esque so bad it’s good kind of way). Ladies, if we all lived on the same continent I would suggest we all get together and share a bottle of wine or three and have a good laugh over it together. I may even pay money to see it! (Let’s face it, it will not make it’s production costs back any other way!).

You know, Lindsay Lohan used to be a huge draw, she really earned money on her flicks, and then all that trouble and bad PR on Georgia Rule, and then, her latest movie, the one where she pretends to be preggo went directly to DVD, never even made it to the theatre. That was probably after they tested it with a live audience. I would not be surprised if this one does the same, and Im telling you, that will be the beginning of the end for AJ, they probably paid a fortune for her to be in that movie too. They will not make their money back on this one guaranteed. In fact, all her movies have flopped lately. A mighty heart could have been kind of good, but her accent was so bad it distracted from the movie, plus her wooden acting, it was hard to believe that she was one bit upset over the kidnapping of her husband, then The Changeling flopped, and now this!!!! She is on a downward spiral

Keane – This is the woman who got into it with Perez when he was a guest judge at the – was it Miss America – anyway, he asked her if gays should be allowed to marry and she said No, that it was against God, and Perez went crazy – talked about it on his blog, on interviews, all over the place and basically she is such a prejudiced dumb ass that it ruined her career before she even started and now she is suing everyone in sight. She’s a pig!!! The modern day Anita Bryant

I remember that, wasn’t that when Perez got into a little trouble also? Well she probably answered that way to try and win, those pageants are so rigged anyway , the majority of this country thinks exactly like that Tam.. Obama said the same thing and Perez also went off on him for that. Ted C is pissed off at the Prez and just about every gay friend I have. What they should have asked her is if she believe if gays should have the same rights as everyone else, and then seen how she would have answered that. They would have gotten a more truthful answer probably. That was like asking “are you a racist?” and she would have said,”of course not I believe that God created all men and woman equal” , lol..but if you asked her that question in a another way, you would get the truth. IAN did a very interesting exercise on this himself and was surprised at the results he got when he asked them as a black man as opposed to a white man, or was donations, I have forgotten. I bet if any of those peoples friends asked them if they were racist, they would all say NO. lol

Oh yea it was a big brouhaha. We discussed it at length here on this forum. The thing is, this is the way I see it. She answered his question, she had the right to her opinion, just as Perez had the right to his. But because he didn’t like her answer, he used his media to completely and totally trash her at every turn. Now, just because I don’t agree with her doesn’t mean she has every right to her beilef, in this instance I think Perez was out of line becuase of the way he attacked her just because her opinion differed from his! It was a fine line. But, she wasn’t out campaigning to have gays burned at the stake the way Anita Bryant did, now THAT was wrong. But PH asked her a question, she answered it, she didn’t ask for it, and that should have been the end of it.

Perez Hilton is the biggest hypocrite out there. Whined like a baby when Miss Whoever said what she did about gays, and whined like a baby when he got into a scuffle with one of will.i.am’s bodyguards earlier this year, but yet he was the one who instigated the whole fight by calling will.i.am a “fucking faggot!” Yeah, a huge gay rights advocate calling others faggots. What a fake-o. (Sorry Ian I know you’ve said you believe PH has journalistic integrity and is a respectable member of the media, but that whole incident really set him low on the bar and I never went back to his site after that).

Carrie Prejean supposedly has a very explicit sex tape floating around out there. The lawyers for the Miss [whatever] Pageant showed Ms. Prejean and her lawyers the tape to get her to back off from her lawsuit against them. I wonder who else is in this tape?

I have seen the beauty pageants. I agree they are fixed. It was reported that Donald Trump personally selected the semi-finalists for Miss Universe. I think there might have been one black among them. I personally thought Miss Phillipines was worthy of the crown. I don’t recall any Asians in the Top 15.

Also, Donald Trump made the news a few yrs ago, when he complained that Miss USA (minorites were well-represented) had too many winners who were not beautiful (enough for him.)
I believe he’s the co-owner of several big time beauty pageants.

In the past, when there were, say 11 judges, there would be 11 questions to choose from. Guess what! Perez Hilton’s question just happened to be one of the 5 or 6 questions for the contestants to choose.
    It was a set-up!

TMZ is exposing Carrie Prejean’s “hypocrisy” regularly.
It’s kind of a hard call!
I don’t like gays ganging up on a lone woman at all. Then when men do worse than what Carrie Prejean did, they just whine, imo!

Carrie dropped her lawsuit the other day when opposing counsel started playing a tape of her porn tape “Home Alone’. She was promptly dropped from some kind of conservative “family values” type of event.

Everyone that dealt with her at the pageant said she had a horrible attitude and that she was only nice to people who had power. Donald Trump said that she really played him and then he found out how she was treating everyone else.

The Norma Jean thing makes me think drugs?

Anyway, I won’t miss her. I would like to read more about that crazy wife of Randy Quaid–Evi Quaid. Now THAT’S an interesting story about those two basically on the run from drug dealers (if you believe the detective) from posh hotel to posh spa paying the bills with fake credit cards and allowing herself to be photographed painting a slanderous charge against a police officer in front of the mayor’s office and kicking an 87-year-old receptionist somewhere. She spends her days working on a museum devoted to the career of Randy Quaid in some little Texas town of 1200 people. Marfa, I think. I mean, call TLC. These people are a reality show I would be watching.

The hip hop genre does nothing for me. But I do skim over the threads concerning the performers. Seems there are a lot of gays and bis (undeclared).
Also, there have been a lot of anti-gay stuff in their records. Of couse one starts to thinlk they protest too much; and also they must have looked in the mirror and didn’t like what they saw.

Trump must think this is the normal way to do business. There was widespread cynicism over his choice of Joan Rivers as the winner of his Celebrity competition this year. She clearly was not even close to the best choice, according to bloggers. Rivers and Trump are old pals.

I don’t read Perez. A couple of yrs ago, he solemnly and fiercely declared Fidel Castro had died. (No ifs, ands or buts!)
I can’t support him by visiting his site. I’ll get info second-hand.

bb14. Off the track again Britany Spears hits Australia here’s what they had to say even CNN picked up the story.

Britney Spears fails to whip the crowd into a frenzy at her first Australian concert. Source: Herald Sun
BRITNEY Spears’ Australian tour is in turmoil, with angry fans demanding their money back over a “boring”, “stiff” and lip-synched first concert in Perth on Friday night.

As the controversial popstar hid in her hotel on Saturday, her Circus tour – which will include shows in Melbourne on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday- threatened to descend into farce.

Hundreds of fans, who paid up to $1500 a ticket, stormed out of the Burswood Dome concert.

And some, who left as early as three songs into her set, demanded refunds over Spears’ lacklustre performance.

One security guard commented that he had never seen so many people walk out of a concert.

Barmaid Amanda Hawlet, 22, drove two hours from her home town and spent nearly $500 on her weekend to see Spears.

She left little more than half an hour into the action.

“I want my money back,” she said.

End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar.
“The ticket cost me $200 and she lip-synched the whole thing. It’s cost me half a week’s wage and you’ve got bills to pay, but you look forward to this concert. It’s a night out and what do you get? Nothing.”

Allison Crugnale left the concert after 45 minutes.

“It’d be good to get the money back,” the teacher, 32, said.

“I go to all the concerts that come here and I’ve never been so disappointed.

“She (Britney) just didn’t want to be there. She just wanted to get it over and done with and just get off stage.

“Her dancers should get paid more than her because they were more entertaining than she was.”

Fans also complained that Spears spent large portions of the show with her back to them and the giant screens atop the circular stage did not show any vision of Spears.

The walkouts have attracted international attention, with the story being picked up by American news site CNN.

The Victorian Government wants concert promoters to place alerts on tickets or promotional material if performers plan to mime.

I can’t stand that bull dog Jane Velez Mitchell. She’s only out for fame, not facts. I do like to watch Nancy Grace, the original Jane V.M. though, but at times she gets fixated on a theory and won’t listen to reason too.

Papa Joe is a loser, a waste of humanity imo. He has lived off his children all his life, and is still trying to do so off his dead son. I feel so sorry for all that Michael endured as his son. I never believed MJ to be guilty of molesting a child, he worships children, and the very act of being a child to him was like a religious experience. I think MJ lived the childhood he missed through his relationships with other children. He wanted them to have what he never did; love, attention, fun, and a real childhood! He was Peter Pan.

I remember thinking how very wierd it was to see Christmas decorations all over the place in what seemed like the middle of summer! Ah ha~! Speaking of the Florida that is a sea of condos, yes, most definately there is that, but if you go to the Gulf Coast, to an area known as Nature’s Coast, it’s wonderful! Acres and acres of woodlands, thousands of lakes with water so clear you can see the bottom, home sites consist of acres not footage, it’s truly the old Florida here. We sit out front in the early morning and watch the deer, turkey, fox, Bobcat family and other wild creatures walking in and out of the 78 acres of woodlands across from our home. Then we can go to the back deck ( 26 ft. x 16 ft) and watch the fishes and wild birds, and an occasional Bald Eagle swooping down for fish for breakfast, if we are in the mood, we walk down to our dock, and take the bass boat out to the main lake and just cruise and enjoy the gators bellowing for a mate …. it’s what Florida used to be up this way Tam. Yea, I’ve been to Cedar Key and its kind of like the old Florida still, bit marshy for my taste haha, but I remember the west coast when they still had all these old beach houses and tiki bars on the beach, on a good night Jimmy Buffet would be there drunk as a skunk hanging out with the locals and you could rent a funky little house on the beach for like 100 dollars a week! LOL ahhhhh the good old days!

“When workers for the Church of Scientology sign a contract agreeing to serve in the church’s Sea Organization for “the next billion years,” the church can twist that agreement into a license to harass its workers, track them down if they leave and pressure them to return. What true church, what caring employer, would trample on the dignity and free choices of its own members in such a way? And what are authorities going to do about it?

In a three-day special report last week, the St. Petersburg Times’ Joe Childs and Thomas C. Tobin told the stories of former members of the so-called Sea Org, Scientology’s most dedicated labor force, and the ordeal the church put them through after they tried to leave without permission.

Sea Org members hold jobs such as gardeners, cooks, laborers, secretaries and assembly line workers. The church demands sacrifice and obedience from its employees, and what does it deliver in return? Sea Org workers are provided room and board but paid a pittance — far below minimum wage. Those interviewed by the Times said they were required to work extended hours, deprived of sleep, separated from their spouses, subjected to multiple daily head counts to ensure no one slipped away, punished if they fell short of expectations and required to sign “confessions” the church kept and later used against them.

If they wanted to quit, these workers could not just resign from their jobs and leave. Church policy required that they “route out,” a process that could take months of daily interrogations and intense pressure. If they gathered their meager belongings and ran, church security teams and private investigators tracked them by using their bank and credit card records as well as personal information they had given the church about their backgrounds, family and friends. Once located and confronted, the workers were told if they didn’t return to the Sea Org, their chance at “eternity” — to be reborn into a new body each time they died — would be lost. In effect, Scientology held the cards.

If they succumbed and returned to the Sea Org, some received even worse treatment. They were placed on a punishment detail called the Rehabilitation Project Force, enduring weeks or months of manual labor, limited food and rest, and enforced silence. In one instance, former Sea Org member Don Jason told the Times that after he agreed to return he was held captive in a locked cabin aboard the Scientology ship Freewinds, with a security camera trained on him even as he slept. He eventually escaped from the ship and is now telling his story.

As former staffers lift the veil of secrecy that for years has obscured the inner workings of the Church of Scientology, a new mystery emerges: Why are government authorities looking the other way? The Internal Revenue Service has ample reason to reconsider its decision to grant Scientology tax-exempt status as a religion. Labor officials should determine whether wage and working condition violations have occurred, and law enforcement ought to investigate whether the church’s restraint on members’ free movement crossed a legal line.

The Church of Scientology trumpets its global reach and expansions in communities large and small across America. Its presence can be disruptive, as Clearwater has learned since the church secretly moved in and established its spiritual headquarters in the city more than 25 years ago. Government cannot afford to be complacent, and those politicians and community leaders who have normalized relations with Scientology can no longer claim ignorance about the nature of the church and the treatment of its workers.

speaking of ’70s, whatever happened to that Studio 54 series that Showtime was supposed to have in development? the NY Post said that they were consulting w/ Liza, Ian Schrager, Carmen deAlessio, Ron Jeremy (I know), Janice Dickinson (ugh), Bianca Jagger, most of the busboys, disco divas (including Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Evelyn Champagne King, Loleatta Holloway, and Martha Wash) and several of the top DJs from rival NYC discos such as the Funhouse, the Loft, 12 West, Xenon, Infinity, Le Jardin, The Saint and many others. Rumor has it that it’s supposed to be more factual that the ‘98 film…. now there’s been no news about it. What happened?

I know EXACTLY how you feel about where you live! That is EXACTLY why we left California almost 9 years ago. Both the hubby and I were born and raised there … in quiet “little” towns. But … alas … our towns turned into cities and a bazillion people from God Knows Where moved into them and made them so unaffordable for any of the town natives to afford. We were fortunate enough to build before the HUGE housing crunch, and were able to sell our home for exactly twice what we paid for it. Selling that sucker made it possible for us to move to Alaska and BUY our ranchette log home with a mountain view. But, we do what we must to be who we want to be. LOL

I gave up on the rich and famous dream early on in life. I figured out I was just too LAZY to do what it took. And I lacked the self-confidence, of course. Haaa haaa. But “I could’a been a contender” I tell ya! I could’a!

Also, California is in deep financial trouble. Too many people can’t carry their share of society’s demands.
And so they need and get freebies.
Then too, there is the elephant in the room; i.e. illegal aliens.
Here, they are everywhere. There’s no diversity! All “latino” crews. Landscaping, construction, esp. But entrenched in every workplace. And they still want more. For example, the Native American agencies are going under, while the “latino” agencies are flourishing. Free services!
They even manage to infiltrate the few N/A agencies; lie and connive their way into director positions, then hire “latinos” over qualified Native Americans.
One could write a book. But, like I say, it’s politically incorrect to talk about it. It’s “the elephant in the room”.
    Meanwhile, California is going bankrupt.
Our governor is wise to what’s happening, but votes are the priority. Actually, it’s the same song, all over the land! Or maybe I should say, dirge!

It’s the weather that keeps us here. For myself, it carries a steep price!
As a mutt, I’m in a part of the country that has huge numbers of newcomers from the south; retired servicemen, esp. Navy and Marines. And they are very conservative in their politics. And they are white!
I may be more highly educated, more experienced with different cultures; more into the arts; etc! etc!
But they only judge what they see!

    Well, rant over!

SO today seems to be the day for celebrities doing the lowest things to market their products. KGB-emlazoned cap on a toddler to advertise mommy’s latest turkey spy flick anyone? Or how about a topless Rihanna shielding her face as if to fend off a blow to the head on the cover of her new single while declaring she wants to be the “poster girl for survivor’s of domestic violence” in endless rounds of promotional interviews? Looks like the shameless publicity-seeking antics of Brangelina (has anyone seen a refugee hanging around I can pose with?) have driven the PRs of other celebs to follow suit to stay in business. Nicole Kidman has said if you can’t beat them, join them and has signed up for press with the UN and even Jennifer Aniston and CC are working that humanitarian angle. If there is one thing I give Angelina credit for it’s her mastery of the shameless act of famewhoring. When the cough “film work” cough dries up, perhaps she should consider becoming America’s answer to Max Clifford. She would be PERFECT at it. So much so there would be no more need for dodgy trips in private jets to far-flung isles. She could just sit back, count her money and leave the hard stuff to everyone else. Now wouldn’t that make a relaxing change Angie huh?
