His music sucks – no edge, nothing original, everything lifted from greats of years gone by. Maybe he’ll punch me in the face for saying this but he’s a moron, loser and in the closet homo. Shame on him and the other stars who sided with Will I Am Mike Tyson. (MTV)

Oh dear, Ian. I disagree completely with your support of Perez. I was one of his early readers WHEN he WAS a journalist on pagesixsixsix.com. Now he gets paid off by certain celebs, is mean spirited and nasty and generally conducts himself without ONE SINGLE OUNCE of dignity. There are reporters out there, including gossip columnists, who do. Perez does not report items of interest, he exposes gay celebrities and posts defamatory and insulting remarks. We want to hear news and gossip, not someone’s third grade taunts of celebs.
As far as the violence, Perez yelled “faggot” and generally acted like a fifth grade school girl. For God’s sake even the gay right’s groups have spoken out against him & demanded an apology. He deserved exactly what he got. He egged it on. Karma is a bitch.

“People make mistakes. I have made many in my life, but this past week I have made more than I can count on one hand.
I am sorry. And I mean it. No one is forcing me to write this. I am not feeling pressured to say this. I am speaking out because I realize that the last few days have been more hurtful to me – and many others – than the repeated blows I suffered to my head in Toronto this past weekend.
I have been filled with incredible sadness and regret.
I am sorry that any good work I have done for promoting equality may be tainted by me reclaiming a hurtful word – that’s been personally used against me and the gay community – to hurt someone that was verbally attacking me. It was stupid.
Apologizing for me is not easy. Writing this was not easy. Life is not easy. But everything happens for a reason and I will take away a lot of valuable lessons from this experience.
Violence is never the answer. Never.
Victims should not be mocked.
The “F” word will never be uttered from my lips again. Just as others use the “N” word to insult and hurt – or as part of their everyday speech – I challenge them to remove it from their vocabulary as well.
Hindsight is always 20/20, they say. I should have been the bigger man and walked away from an unfortunate situation. Instead, I chose – in a very misguided way – to stand up for myself and only made things worse by how I – under pressure, anger and extreme emotion – handled the situation.

ReplyOkay. Here is my opinion on what is up with this site . . . I think Ian is allowing this site to fade away by posting the dullest things he can thing of to post (his stupid, lying book; praising PH; nothing about Angie or Brad) because HE HAS NO NEWS ON ANGIE OR BRAD!!! None of what Ian has said over the past month (year) about Angelina and Brad have come to past. There is no pregnant model; there is no breakup; there is nothing happening and, since Angie has completed her movie (Salt) and Brad’s movie has been put on the shelf, there will most likely be no sightings of either of them until the premiere in August of Basterds. So, Ian is hoping everybody just fades away and he doesn’t have to write anymore about Angie and Brad and then nobody will be around to call him the liar he is.
@Ms Agatha: I know you and others want desperately to believe there is something wrong with the twins but there isn’t. The tabloids are playing the same game they always play . . . say there is something wrong with a kid and hope the parents bring the kid out in public (see Suri and Shiloh). There is nothing wrong with either of the Jolie-Pitt babies. But, go on believing every bad thing you read about this family if it makes you happy.

They have parents who should/can look for medical help and can afford any treatment possible, if so required. If they are weak ( as many, many voices have suggested, haven’t heard anybody claiming the opposite yet ) they have no reason been paraded around, so that’s actually a good thing AJ does, keep them at home, where ever that is ……

Usually part of the deal with a cease and desist is that you’re not supposed to publish it, although occasionally people do (The Smoking Gun did once for one). I think Ian has had at least one before and didn’t say explicitly that he had one. If he has a cease and desist from brange then that would cover all stories by anyone on the site so there wouldn’t be any posts from SR either. So I would guess he probably has (at least) one right now.

I think after People was accused of agreeing to not publish anything negative about her that shuffled her over to US and kept Brad at People to keep the fire off them. Makes sense. I agree that if Ian got a “Shut-UP” notice that he should have just come on and said so. And the fact that he didn’t is so out of character, he lets us know every legal goings on with the Laliberte stuff, so it makes me think that he hasn’t gotten one. Personally, I don’t expect any news from Ian anymore, he hasn’t given us anything really good since before Cannes, nothing about the blockbuster about Jen came forth, nothing more about the Sudanese, so many unanswered questions. The only reason I come on here now is to chat with my on line pals, NOT for the stories, Ive given up on them, dont expect them at all anymore. I’ve asked Ian several questions and he has never answered any of them, sooooooooo, there you go.

A cease and desist letter is simply a letter usually from a lawyer requesting that you cease a certain activity or risk being sued by the writer’s client.
A cease and desist order from a court comes after a court hearing either as the result of trial or as an “emergency measure to prevent possibly irreparable harm.” The emergency measure still requires that the requesting party make a sufficient showing of proof to the court that irreparable harm will be done if the action is not halted immediately until the matter is settled or decided at trial.
Neither type of cease and desist would be a secret. There would be nothing preventing Ian from disclosing its existence unless there is a settlement by both parties that includes that specific prohibition. In any case, we would at the very least know that there was a court case and that parties had been in court and I’m sure the hearing would have been widely attended by press.
People need to get it out of their minds that there are secret courts or court proceedings in the U.S. for normal civil or criminal matters. There aren’t.

I meant to add that Ian is absolutely right about the Perez matter. You don’t need to agree with Perez or even like him to find a physical assault on him unacceptable. For those in the media I am sure that an attack on a media person for what they have written or said is a disturbing matter. Where do you draw the line for people who are not happy with what is written about them? That’s why we have courts of law and courts of public opinion. Those are the acceptable tools.
If Will.i.am did anything to encourage or “aid and abet” his manager’s alleged assault on Perez then in the eyes of the law he can be held just as liable civilly or for criminal charges.

No lawyer has the authority to order someone not to reveal the contents of a letter sent to that person. They just don’t. They may have more right to ask that the letter itself not be published (showing signatures maybe) but even that is very questionable and I still don’t see where they have authority for even that either. I don’t know what grounds they would have for demanding secrecy of a letter. Those “c and d” letters normally proceed any court action and are an attempt to get a voluntary halt to action to prevent the need for a law suit. Even if the letter itself isn’t published you could still reveal the nature of the letter, i.e., that it was a cease and desist letter.
The only caveat I would have about the letter on Smoking Gun is if the letter (I don’t remember its exact wording) is in furtherance of an accompanying court order to halt all talk about a matter. Still it wouldn’t normally prevent someone form expalining they can’t discuss the matter becaue they are under a court order.
