Fox just makes sapphic statements for publicity – a while back she was saying that actress Olivia Wilde is hot. And I find it hard to believe that Laliberte is really all that upset about the sexual antics that Ian alleges in the book being public. For guys who sleep around a lot, the only thing as good as or better than the sex is talking about the sex, because then everyone knows what a big manly stud you are. Also, even a tiny bit of research indicates that Ian is a very experienced celebrity journalist, who is going to legally document everything said on every page, making legal action ultimately futile. So, I’m guessing that this is all bluster that will fade away when it comes to an actual court test, but unfortunately Ian will likely have to endure it until then (and we will get less from Ian while he is tied up defending himself).

His “non-fiction” book shot to the top of the bestseller list and received high acclaim by Oprah Winfrey herself, too bad all of his followers were duped when it was later revealed that the content in his book was both fabricated and exaggerated. OJ Simpson himself was likewise about to become a bestselling author until the abrupt cancellation of his book, which at the time was near the top of Amazon’s bestselling books on pre-order. Just pointing out that being a bestseller by producing a book about a hot topic or one that garners widespread attention hardly equates to having a reputable image.

A good thing about Megan Fox though is that by being a living parody of Ange, she exposes her to be the utterly shallow and vacuous human being that she is. Nadya Suleman is another great example. Both Suleman and Fox clearly do what they do and say what they say for attention, which in turn makes people question the motivations of the woman they are imitating. I think Ange has got away with a lot in her career and managed to pull the wool over a lot of people’s eyes with regard to who she really is. She is all style over substance, and has got a very long way by seeming to be or do things more than actually being or doing them.
To me she is the ultimate example of the modern desire for a short-cut to celebdom. She wanted to get to the top in HW but couldn’t get there on her own steam, so she piggy-backed a ride on someone who had actually managed to get there on his. She wants to be seen as a great humanitarian but she doesn’t want to have to get her hands dirty or do a lot of hard work, so she does promotional work which garners her attention and accolades without requiring the graft. She wants to be seen as an intellectual but she couldn’t be bothered to apply herself to getting any higher education. She wants to be a politician but doesn’t want to do the decades of work required to build herself up to that position. So instead she seeks advice on how to “position herself” in the higher echelons of Washington from political bigwigs. Might she do that by piggybacking her way there on another man, married or otherwise, who knows? She fosters an image of herself as an “earth mother” but has a team of at least 6 nannies to do all the hard graft for her. So what does she actually do? Run around in a variety of costumes and wigs and take home $10 million of course, thank you very much!
So I do take my hat off to her, because there has probably never been another human being in history who has elevated themselves to such a high position in life without actually doing any hard work whatsoever, unless you call “hard work” doing some of your own stunts. So yeah Angelina, I give credit where credit’s due. You have achieved what every other glamour model and reality TV star so desperately aspires to do: get famous for being famous. Congrats to you!
And the trolls can stick that in their pipe and smoke it, Angelina’s own and the bottom feeders of the interwebs alike!

When i find something of interest posted that way, i CCP ( copy, cut, and paste) it as it is shown there onto my post, sort of a courtesy to whomever posted that thought /idea first. Everyone does it, no biggie. You highlight what you want to copy by scrolling over it with the LEFT button pressed on your mouse…..Then while holding your cursor on the highlighted words, you RIGHT click on the mouse and select SAVE….take it where you want it to be, RIGHT click the mouse and select PASTE….

Yep ITA, when it comes to Susan Boyle I genuinely think the world has gone mad. She is an average-good singer but she hit all the wrong notes in her rendition of Memory and in I Dreamed A Dream she not only got the timing wrong but didn’t even sing the right words. There is a singer of her calibre in every am dram groupd and church choir across the land, but she will be the one cashing in! I think she’s way older than 23 to be honest, if you look at her skin on camera it is pretty aged, dry and thick and clerly held together by botox. I think she’s quite a bit over 30. Not that much younger than Angelina. I don’t think she’ll get away with the tag of being “the young Angelina” for too long. I think the fact that they’re probably quite near each other in age will become more and more apparent as time goes on!

Do you read a Brit site called HolyMoly at all? Its not earth-shattering stuff but you get the occasional good bit of goss (the Katie Price is more chickly than dickly these days suggestion for one!). Apparently Susan Boyle is well known for throwing fits and calling ambulances to take her to hospital whenever she gets a bit stressed out. They said she has merely upgraded the standard of hospital! Its incredible how important blogging and sites like twitter are becoming, literally providing people with a medium to resist dictatorship. It has some resonance so thought people might be interested in reading it:

The purpose of this guide is to help you participate constructively in the Iranian election protests through twitter.
1. Do NOT publicise proxy IP.s over twitter, and especially not using the #iranelection hashtag. Security forces are monitoring this hashtag, and the moment they identify a proxy IP they will block it in Iran. If you are creating new proxies for the Iranian bloggers, DM them to @stopAhmadi or @iran09 and they will distributed them discretely to bloggers in Iran.
2.Hashtags, the only two legitimate hashtags being used by bloggers in Iran are #iranelection and #gr88, other hashtag ideas run the risk of diluting the conversation.
3.Keep you commonsense antenna up! Security forces are now setting up twitter accounts to spread disinformation by posing as Iranian protesters. Please don’t retweet impetuously, try to confirm information with reliable sources before retweeting. The legitimate sources are not hard to find and follow.
4. Help cover the bloggers: change your twitter settings so that your location is Tehran and your time zone is GMT +3.30. Security forces are hunting for bloggers using location and timezone searches. If we all become Iranians. it becomes much harder to find them.
5. Don’t blow their cover! If you discover a genuine source, please don.t publicise their name or location on a website. These bloggers are in real danger. Spread the word discretely through your own networks but don’t signpost them to the security forces. People are dying there, for real, please keep that in mind.
6. Denial of Service attacks. If you don’t know what you are doing, stay out of this game. Only target those sites the legitimate Iranian bloggers are designating. Be aware that these attacks can have detrimental effects to the network the protesters are relying on. Keep monitoring their traffic to note when you should turn the taps on or off.
7. Do spread the (legitimate) word, it works! When the bloggers asked for twitter maintenance to be postponed using the #nomaintenance tag, it had the desired effect. As long as we spread good information, provide moral support to the protesters, and take our lead from the legitimate bloggers, we can make a constructive contribution.

It’s a site but all the best goss comes through the mailout. It used to be a LOT better than it is now but a couple of years ago it went all mainstream with big advertising etc. Now the items are much more tame. What would have once been stated directly is now concealed as a blind so basically the whole mailout is virtually now in that form. People can guess who it is so maybe it is a way of encouraging comments, he doesn’t get very many. Much of the other items are extremely lame. The guy who runs that site came here way back at the beginning and commented on a story about Anna Nicole Smith do you remember? Something about Ian’s alleged shenanigans with her. I said well at least Ian gets the odd story Mr Moly, as the old saying goes, those with crap gossip sites should not throw stones!

The first line of Halperin’s biography reads “Ian Halperin is also a former winner of the Rolling Stone magazine Award for Investigative Journalism.” This came as news to us, so we looked in our own archives and discovered this claim has been greatly exaggerated: He did win an RS honor, but it was the College Journalism Award in 1985 and it was split among the staff at Concordia University’s student newspaper in Montreal.

miffed_33 – not one part of anything I have said about Brange has been taken from a tabloid. The stuff I have written about their PR and their nannies is absolute fact, the image they sell of themselves to the world is a total fabrication. A lot of the stuff I know about them comes from the fact that I work in the media industry and know a lot about what goes on behind the scenes and how the game works. There are plenty of fraudulent celebs out there, but they are the biggest ones of all and they are making by far the most money out of deluding their poor gullible fans. And the media refuse to go after them because they wield such power. Instead they get away with very bad behvaiour and no-one ever calls them out on it. This makes me very angry and I think the balance needs to be redressed. That is all.
And thanks so much for the compliment that what I write is drivel you ignorant little fuck, but I can assure you that its not, and when I’m repeating something that I’m not 100% sure of I most certainly state that. And as for “getting back to reality”, you unfortunately are making the very stupid assumption that you know exactly what that is and all other possibilities are therefore excluded. And as I’ve said before the amount of time I spend thinking about this family is minimal, I simply think and type fast. And thanks so much for your instructions about what I should do and what I should say when I come to this site, but that is actually not one bit of your fucking business. But with all the media wisdom you’ve required from, (I don’t know, waitressing was it?), I’m sure you think you’re so much more of an authority on everything than me. So from here on in I will officially stop believing anything I read from journos who have sources from within Brange’s staff. Rather than using any of my own judgement from my own journalistic and research experience I will instead just listen to the gospel according to miffed_13. It was because Ian refused to cut the journo in on a story because he doesn’t do that so the guy tried to discredit him. Big effing deal. The Chief Foreign Correspondent on one of the UK’s main terrestrial channels lied about what class of degree he got when he started out as a journo. He is now one of the most respected journos in the UK and has been for many years. Embellishing something on your CV does not automatically = you are a shady liar. I would love to see UFB’s CV. I wonder how many made up grades, jobs and references appear on that!

Direct quote above, no where does IAN say HE wond the award, but rather A winner of etc. Use of the word HE would have indeed indicated no one else won the award, however by using the word A….it could indicate one, two, twenty, or more won A award… So i don’t see a clear attempt to eleminate the other winners of AN award from RS….i do however agree that he did not specifically identify the particular award though…..perhaps that is where it came to be called “exagerated” by RS….

ReplyI should have worded my post differently, but it just go to show how things can be misleading. I should have simply pointed out that his bio page is mis-leading. I guess you can also question where the site got the info. Did Ian give it to them? I can’t say, but it would be logical for people to assume that he did.
Patty, your post just proves that out. And Rolling Stone’s comments as saying he exaggerated do as well like you said. People can look and see “IH is a former winner….” and interpret that as he won it on his own. They’d never see it as a group award. That’s really the whole point. He shouldn’t have had to come out and clarify it.

ReplyTrue, it’s all in how the individual interprets what is printed. But, isn’t that true in most things? How we look upon something and the take we form on that is up to us as individuals. I know that i won a group award in High School, however on my resume’ i did not list each and every other person in the group who won as well, as they were not involved in the applilcation for the specific position that i was. Would the administration be interested in the names of the 19 others in the group who won an award with me? I think not. Perhaps that was IAN’s outlook as well, who knows. As with all things gossip, it’s speculation in the end, because none of us can speak with certainty of another’s motives. I do appreciate your dialog though, you do have some good points worth thought….

Ian was a regular correspondent on 60 minutes and Court TV, not once but often. Also he was interviews on CNN and NBC when his expose on Scientology came out, and they also talked about this award, they reasearched it and presented Ian. For those who have a problem with this, perhaps one of these stations could help you out, because they are fully aware of Ian’s resume. The award was a joint effort with another student and with a couple of editors. The aritcle written by the guy in RS was over a tiff, he was irritated with Ian, that article is a result. It is not a big deal. The lawsuit filed against him that several bloggers are droning on about do not seem to be aware that the person who filed it was in the end found to be at fault, not only him, but his entire department. They were all put on suspention and Ian was completely cleared. Not because he was crafty, but because he did not do anything wrong. These said bloggers are presently blogging up a slander/libel suit as I understand it. just a fyi. Not much else to keep talking about on this.

I posted on the Hostility thread just to clear up some things, someone went on there and made up some things about me saying that, 1- I am and insider 2- that I m from one of the three camps 3- that I work for Ian 4- that if Keane knew who I really was she would attack me. Now none of that is true, and someone here told me it was on there and I was a bit surprised that someone would go to such lengths with the games to cause a problem just out of the hatred for this site. We are talking about FF here, not Just Jared. I was accused of having hatred for her. Shaking my head, not even going to defend that anymore. I have already said numerous times I do not hate her and wish she could get her life together. Clearly there are some people on there that are pro Angelina that were here in the mix and are using their hatred for IUC to cause problems. I am sure there are those who are antis too that don’t like me or the site also but this was just something that was so clear to me well, because FF is famous for being anti Brangelina, and you would have thought I had spit in Mother Teresas face by suggesting Brad owed the public an apology for the way he has lied , to Larry King, to his fans. Sorry but that is what I believe and many that I know. It is interesting that now there is a mix of pro Brange and anti Brange on Female First. Never thought I would see that come to pass. What is your beef with Kate? She isn’t saying anything that many anti’s have said for years.

That is what should be exposed. Lift the veil people! Hollywood is not your friend.
You are defending an affair as “whatever” and the public humiliation of a wife as “no biggie.” That’s your right but most here don’t see it that way which is a perfectly legit position to take if you have any morals.
And please stop with the “poor Angie” BS, too. Within minutes of going public with Pitt she was hailed the Queen of all things Beautiful and Hollywood. THAT is what irks people. That her deceptive behaviour was richly rewarded with more fame, sainthood, and tons of money. She has in no way suffered for her behaviour.
And how did that happen? Media Manipulation pure and simple. And if that manipulation had only garnered them millions of loon fans, well, whatever, most people wouldn’t bat an eyelash. But it seems to have garnered them a free pass on adopting kids, on neglecting their kids basic need for stability, home, schooling, a free pass on smearing the ex wife, a free pass on exploiting wars and the underpriviledged for more press, etc etc etc. Really, I could go on all day.
I could care less if they stay together or are apart. I don’t wish harm on either of them nor do I hate them. Things are not as good in our nation as we are used to, and we, as a whole, need to do our individual part to correct this. That includes keeping up on where our politician stand on an issue, how they perform in government for our wishes, and how they keep promises that got them elected. If they let us down, each of us can establish a group to hold them accountable, see to it they know we are dissatisfied, and can affect the outcome next election….It’s not perfect, but it beats what else i have seen

That’s odd, the attitude to the role of Twitter in the Iranian elections in the UK could not be more different. And I’m pleased to say we do still have a free press thank God, not the newspapers necessarily (although the opposing political biases do balance out) but broadcast news for sure. Especially the BBC and Channel 4 news. If you are a news junkie you may enjoy watching it on line. Its focus is very international, it covers a lot of stories the other channels don’t pick up and has a very intelligent, incisive presenter/commentes in the form fo Jon Snow. Its on for an hour every night as well, apart from Friday-Sunday which I think is half an hour.
The UK news very much considers the camera phone/video recorder and twitter as vital tools in resisting rigged elections. Western journos have been banished now so the only pics and evidence we’re getting are from the individual eye witness accounts spread on the internet. If it wasn’t for this technology the Iranian govt would be able to silence reportage of the protests in the world wide media. It can only be a positive thing. People are angry that they are being told that Ahmadinejad has won 2 out of 3 votes cast in the election, a supposed landslide victory. If the election has been rigged then surely the worldwide coverage of the protests is vital to put pressure on the govt? I don’t understand why you think it is Iranian propaganda, can you explain?
I for one would rejoice at Ahmadinejad being deposed from power, considering the lack of human rights of the Iranian people and the conditions under which they are forced to live. A less hardline, more progressive leader can only be a good thing right? And maybe Mousavi is not the living incarnation of freedom and democratic govt, but he must be an improvement on what they have now otherwise people would not feel so strongly. The stuff that goes on in Iran with regard to what is punishable by law and the methods of punishment are truly repellant, its as bad as Taliban-governed Afghanistan. If you’re interested and I can find it I’ll link you to the site of the organisation I mentioned before. Iranian Youth Association or something I think it was called. All the members had a lost a relative to the govt’s shady crime and punishment system. Many do not know what has happened to them. You may know all this stuff already anyway, but I just thought I’d explain where I’m coming from in terms of Iran. For me any resistance to dictatorship, Ahmadinejad and the current political regime cannot be anything but a good thing!

More people will tune in to see her than would ever tune in to see HIlls, which is a shame but that’s life. The broadcaster is using her for ratings and I assumed HC was using her for popular appeal until I heard she’d pulled out. I think people are getting a little wary of the Angelina association these days (wasn’t Obama ordered not to involve her in his campaign too?). But do you really think Twitter is crucial to all that? There is support for Mousavi on other social networking etc sites. It just seems like the focus at the moment is twitter. And as for Iran, well from what I’ve heard from Iranians in London campaigning for human rights in their home land, I would say that I support the overthrow of Ahmadinejad no matter who is inciting it. Iran is a highly sophisticated society. The problem is that various interpretations of Islam have impacts on the people and especially women. Many Muslim women have no objection to wearing the hijab and other female related requirements of Islam. You can be sure, they are rocking out the Gucci under their veils. Many of them understand the real context of Islam and Women and not the propagandized version we are told about on TV.
HOWEVER we should never become blind to the likelihood that our own govt is meddling in Iran’s internal affairs and therefore playing with the lives of these protesters. You can take it to the bank that they are. NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE. The US set that precedent by overthrowing the Iranian govt in 1953.
I am very sorry to disagree so strongly with you but I do believe that we all have a tendency to be naive about the media including the BBC News which I watch and enjoy daily. The one thing I will give to the Beeb is that at least they tell a larger story and they do tend to do real news and not the pablum that we get on US network TV. But to think that the BBC is not aligned with certain government and corporate interests is dangerous. Don’t worry I am still here! Well yes I have to say we do completely disagree with each other here. I know about what you’re referring to with regard to the BBC reporting of the collapse of WTC 7 but I have seen a doc on the 9/11 conspiracy theory that pretty categorically debunked that piece of evidence and most of the others too. I can’t remember the precise circumstances of it but they interviewed the BBC news team involved, including the reporter, and the reason for it was something very simple and difficult to dispute. This was a doc on Sky so it was definitely not a cover-up on the part of the BBC. Murdoch will try to attack, discredit or stitch the beeb up at any possible opportunity believe me (the recent Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross debacle in the UK for example – not sure if you know of it – is widely believed in media circles to have been incited by the Murdoch press as an attack on the most hated, biggest rival to his business), so it was more likely to be against them if anything. I had an open mind when I saw the doc because I didn’t know much about it pretty much debunked all of the theorist’s arguments and was a very balanced, fair account of it all. I’ll try to remember what it was called if you’re interested. BTW having worked for the BBC I can definitely attest that it is not controlled by business or govt. It is paid for by the public and accountable to it. Having made a programme for them which had some very controversial subject-matter in it (with regard to a big cover up of the role of the police in an event that caused the death of a lot of people), I can attest that there was no interference with what the P/D and I were doing at all. In fact some more input, guidance and/or help would have been greatly appreciated but we were pretty much left to our own devices by our absentee Exec! But I will concede that BBC news is not always the greatest, it is very UK focused on the whole and does not ask the difficult questions that the Channel 4 news does. Check it out, I’m sure you will much prefer it, it certainly covers a lot more of the international stories you’re interested in than the Beeb does (though BBC News 24 is better).
As for Iran well I agree that a lot of Iranians are very westernized which is why it is so dreadful for them to live in a society where a couple holding hands in public is punishable by law, where having gay sex or sex outside marriage is punishable by death (either stoning or hanging), and where opponents to the political regime are rounded up, abducted and never seen again. Did you know Iran is second only to China in the number of executions it commits every year? So again, yes I am very happy that the people of Iran are rising up against their govt and seeking to depose a dangerous man and a brutal, evil regime, regardless of whether they are being aided or abetted by any other foreign govt. All I want is for those people to be free from the tyranny of their own govt.

CB already covered part of this story earlier today – Hillary Clinton broke her elbow this morning and now she has officially cancelled on Angelina Jolie. Angelina and the Secretary of State were supposed to attend a Washington DC World Refugee Day event, as well as jointly hand out Foreign Service Awards. But Hillary had to cancel. Why does Hillary’s elbow hate Brangelina? Is Hillary’s elbow Team Aniston?
I should also note that Angelina is still scheduled to appear on AC 360, being interviewed by none other than Anderson Cooper. The rumor yesterday was that Angelina and Hillary would be doing a joint-interview on AC 360, but I could find that confirmed anywhere. I suspect that Angelina would be doing the interview, and then she and Hillary would be doing appearances together during the next few days:
Hillary Clinton has canceled a meeting Thursday with Angelina Jolie after breaking her elbow.
“On the way to the White House late this afternoon, Secretary Clinton fell and suffered a right elbow fracture,” her chief of staff Cheryl Mills said in a statement overnight. “She was treated at The George Washington University Hospital before heading home.”
Clinton will have surgery next week.

You will love the Channel 4 news, it covers all those types of stories, you must check it out. Plus there are quite a lot of docs in the UK that cover that sort of thing: Dispatches is a key strand for one and Unreported World (which one of my friend’s reports on) for another. Check them both out, they will be right up our street. Channel 4 is a much more “edgy” channel than the beeb who as I said are very UK-centric (responsibility to the interests of the licence fee payers and all) and quite nanny-ish. Channel 4 is very different. I think in general our press is much more free than in the US, especially the TV. Newspapers are a mixed bag but The Guardian and The Independent also cover all that stuff. We defo get “the other side” quite a lot!

Plus I meant to say we also have Newsnight, a 3/4 hr show every week night on BBC2 between 10.30-11.15pm. It is an analysis of the news, often the international stuff over domestic (unless its major news), and experts/members of different political groups/human rights/activists groups come on to debate the stories. You also get this on the Channel 4 news though actually. Newsnight is usually hosted by Jeremy Paxman, a British broadcasting leg for being a very, very tough, aggressive interviewer. You might like that two. There are actually hours of news-based/current affairs based shows on TV every day in the UK. You can literally watch them all night long on the 4 main terrestrial channels. Its good stuff. (And there ends my little advert for the UK TV industry!).

The BBC has again been caught engaging in mass public deception by using photographs of pro-Ahmadinejad rallies in Iran and claiming they represent anti-government protests in favor of Hossein Mousavi.
An image used by the L.A. Times on the front page of its website Tuesday showed Iranian President Ahmadinejad waving to a crowd of supporters at a public event.
In a story covering the election protests yesterday, the BBC News website used a closer shot of the same scene, but with Ahmadinejad cut out of the frame. The caption under the photograph read, ‘Supporters of Mir Hossein Mousavi again defied a ban on protests’.
This is not the first time the BBC has been caught red-handed using crude image and video framing techniques for the purposes of political propaganda.

If you don’t like your hotel then check out the Melrose Mansion. It’s a small boutique hotel right on Esplanade – Esplanade is kind of the dividing street between the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood. The staff are all extremely helpful – they’ll even keep you company if you’re an insomniac like me and bring fresh lemonade out to the pool area at 3 in the morning. OH, and the owner is GORGEOUS! Plus Lenny Kravitz often sneaks in and goes up to a room they keep for him on the 3rd Floor.
I saw a roach and jumped on the bed and screamed at the top of my lungs – even though the roach was technically outside the building. So they bumped me up to their top suite. When I arrived there, it was just me, my boyfriend, 5 people from Miramax and a guy from the Wall Street Journal. So, if you like walking a bit, it’s really a cool place to stay.

That’s interesting but if that is the case then I wouldn’t say the journo and the BBC were patrt of a govt conspiracy. It would be because the beeb is essentially a pretty left-wing, pro-human rights organisation and either wanted it to be or it was simply a mistake (deliberate or otherwise) on the part of the journo. The BBC and the govt are not linked at all, it is free from links with any political organisation and has to give a balanced view of all political parties and opposing opinions. Its all in the charter. There was also quite a big houha recently because the beeb refused to broadcast a charity appeal for victims of the Israeli attack on the Gaza strip even though other channels were doing it. The beeb decided that it would seem like they were taking sides in the conflict which was ridiculous as it had already ended and it was an appeal for civillians not Hamas. Anyway, that was the decision that was taken and they stuck to it against much condemnation from the public. But of course the beeb is a huge organisation and editorial decisions may be made by different individuals in different ways elsewhere. That was one that was decided by the very top brass though so it is representative of the beeb’s, in general, overly cautious desire to be impartial. That doesn’t mean it is always happens in practice though. When decisions don’t go through the very top they get made by lower level editors and mistakes happen. Witness the recent Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand debacle where the Producer didn’t edit the phone conversation as Andrew Sachs had requested and put it out unedited – cue big outcry. If images are being used in a misleading way as you suggest then I would say it was down to individuals either making mistakes or wanting to believe the images are telling them what they want them to. Or perhaps the person who e-mailed them to the journo made the mistake. Journos do make big errors, as was the case with Piers Morgan’s notorious publishing of supposed Iraqi torture pictures which it was clear to everyone and his aunt were faked! Cue his sacking as Editor of The Mirror and a glamorous, lucrative career judging America’s Got Talent! Funny how it all turns out! But anyway, I will argue to the death that the aim of the beeb is to be impartial as believe me it has been drummed into me so much I can’t think any other way. Plus when you work for them you really realise how very strict everything is and how much bureaucracy you have to go through to get anything done; so many people that you have to consult on the smallest editorial detail and so much info you have to verify and get permission to go ahead with. But clearly it is not a foolproof system, but it is without doubt more rigorous than any other broadcaster I’ve worked for.

Yeah we are definitely coming from totally diametric opposites when discussing the beeb and UK news media in general (the US is a totally different kettle off fish of course and I find it extremely shocking). And definitely when it comes to 9/11, Bali, Madrid and the London bombings. I was open-minded on the 9/11 thing until I saw the doc I’m referring to which addressed all the arguments of the conspiracy theorists and presented very conclusive evidence to the contrary. The BBC clip was completely debunked, by speaking to the production crew and reporter themselves, there was a very simple technical glitch involved. And the concept that WTC 7 was a controlled explosion was countered with the evidence of a demolition expert who said the building would have had to have been laid with miles and miles of explosives to bring it down and there’s no way that could have been done without anyone seeing them do it. They also put the argument that the explosives could have been laid down when the building was built and he said no way, dynamite becomes inactive after a year, WTC 7 was built years ago etc. And I definitely do not think the Bali/Madrid/London bombings were an inside job either. People connected to the London bombings live near me, they hid the bombers whose bombs failed to explode and helped one of them to leave the country. There were people invloved in those bombings from all over London and elsewhere.
I do agree that the US govt is one very shady operation and there is a lot that I wouldn’t put past them, but deliberately murdering thousands of its own citizens in spectacular style is most definitely not one of them. Hundreds of thousands of citizens in the non-western world? Yes, for sure. Americans and big business interests? No way. However I am more amenable to the theory that the plane due to hit the pentagon was shot down, its possible but again there is supposedly phone evidence to contradict that. And as for the UK govt, well they have been very led astray by the US govt in the last decade but on the whole it is a much less shady, trustworthy operation. The biggest govt scandal we’ve ever had is that MPs have been diddling their expenses claims – which has been all over the news for weeks and just won’t go away, the BBC included – and numerous heads have rolled for that. (This was exposed by The Telegraph newspaper BTW in case you weren’t aware of it). If they were discovered to have been sponsoring terrorist acts in the UK and abroad, well, all I can say is there would be some sort of revolution going on if that happened, govt itself would be dissolved.
And as for Israel, the UK on the whole are generally more biased towards Paelstine, we are not fond of Israel at all here. We see Isreal as very much being the puppet of the US trying to gain control over the Middle East. We are not a big fan at all. Some of my friends were going to go to Israel to protest against the bulldozing in fact. It was after Tom Hurndell and I was like, no way, they will have no qualms in shooting you either. And I have never noticed a pro-Israel bias in the BBC and believe me I am vrey sensitive to these things, I am a “trendy lefty” through and through believe me! Although I will concede that the beeb’s failure to broadcast that Gaza appeal was odd. But bizarrely it turned out that the resulting controversy served to get the appeal about a million times more column inches than it otherwise would have. But in any case, channel 4 and I think ITV were always going to broadcast it anyway. The fact that we have several news channels means that we get a variety of perspectives which helps. As an aside I’ve just seen that Iran are blaming the UK and in particular the BBC for the protests over the elections, which makes me elicit a great big cheer, you, not so much I would have thought!

Just a couple of points: pro israeli media propaganda is out of control in the US. I recently saw some survey somewhere that showed American attiitudes v Euro attitudes on the I/P topic and it did clearly indicate that Europeans tend to be more balanced and certainly more Pro Palistinian than Americans. I give your media credit for that. But that doesn’t mean that your media is unblemished. As for 911-I learned long ago that it is a fruitless argument. What is that saying? A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. So to each his own on 911. So let us leave the topic of 911, please. We could both wallpaper the place with our opinions and no ones mind would change. People have to discover their own truths in their own time, if at all. The bigger point I would like to make about media propaganda is easily captured on this very site where every day we all meet to dissect the latest news and information about AJ/BP. There is general agreement that the JP’s bought off People magazine or that People bought them off whichever way you want to look at it-IN EXCHANGE FOR FAVORABLE PUBLICITY! There is your proof right there and we all saw the foundation tax returns, that THE PRESS IS NOT FREE. What is people mag if it is not media? It is owned by the mighty conglomerate Time Warner. My point is that with this situation, everyone on the board seems to agree. But no one wants to believe that the media lies, that the media can be bought, owned, manipulated about other topics (besides celebrities)???????????????????????????? That defies logic to me.
