IUC Exclusive: NYC Literary Agent Launches Massive Lawsuit vs. Publishing Giant Faber and Author Lowe
The complaint says that Weisfeld is depicted “as a money hungry Jewish manager who was financially invested in ODB’s very soul,” and alleges that the basis of that description comes not from an actual press conference but rather from a parody depiction of that event from YouTube. The suit also cites other alleged factual inaccuracies and reliance on secondhand sources in the book as part as of an “intent to damage [Weisfeld's] good name, reputation and credit as an entrepreneur in the entertainment industry” and/or “gross recklessness and utter disregard for the truth.”
Attorney for Macmillan Paul Slevin told the NY Post, “We have no knowledge that the suit has been filed other than your phone call and we don’t comment on pending litigation.”
Wonder what my old pal Alan Dershowitz would make of all this.
