@ Cate - that is a fairly definitive account of stuff we've been talking about for a long time. I may well re-post it on a later thread to make sure other people read it.

<a href="#comment-8399" rel="nofollow">@cate:</a>
Yeah we've discussed this quite a lot. Trying to understand the deprivation of the world whilst living inside a bubble of 5 stars, flurry of airports, ever changing environment, tight security detail and NEVER venturing off even when you're older to really talk to anyone at length bc it's dangerous since everyone knows who you are -- is bogus. It's code for the parents don't REALLY give a shit about what's good for these kids. I ascribe more to Miss Marple's philosophy over this one; she felt she had learned a great deal about the world and human nature, by knowing her small village and it's inhabitants well. Certainly preferable to what they're doing, where they're not exposed much if at all to any one person for very long, outside their parents sphere of influence. Cult.

I doubt either have studied developmental psychology much, or perhaps ignored it, along with common sense, in favor of their very own personal view (excuse) of child rearing.

Neither of them seem to be particularly bright. A decade ago, I lived and worked in the Third World. There were long weeks and months where there was very little power on any given day and a very limited supply of running water every third day, or so. While walking to work, I usually trekked through a barrio where the children wandered naked amidst metal shacks while rats larger than I had ever seen, scared the living daylights out of me. At night, folks were lulled to sleep by the sounds of machine guns. I doubt that either one of the Brangelina promo team has much experience long term stays wherever they go. Always, they are hopping on a jet, bound for a better place.

St Brangelina? Every few months they do, what seems to amount to, drive through photo ops. They stay in four or five star hotels and admit to feeling better about their own lives after the drive by events. "I can't complain about my life after seeing so much pain." Roughly translated, that seems to mean that your pain makes me feel better about my life. Granted, they do bring cameras into horrible regions, Sadly, it takes multi-millionaires to do that. The cameras don't seem to want to follow real workers in the field. If there isn't glitz or glamour, it isn't newsworthy, it seems. After a harrowing few days, they return to the South of France to recover in billionaireland. Watch how defensive she gets when the conspicuous consumption and affluence are challenged in interviews.

On top of that, two individuals who had no prior experience with children, are adopting an entire team of children from all over the world? Anyone who has either studied developmental psychology or who has helped to raise younger siblings, knows that children need stability and consistency. They need to have regular periods of play, sleep and socialization. Having a sense of personal space and home is crucial. They are dragging those children through airports as though they were tiny verbalized pieces of luggage. I would remain silent were it not for those beautiful little persons who don't know any other way. The parents have decided that they will be citizens of the world before they ever know what it means to be a little citizen in a safe little kindergarten. Each of them were in their 30s or 40s when they became interested in "the world". Their minds are barely developed enough to understand some rather simple consequences in the home.

As it stands now, all they will remember of childhood will be a blurr of airports and hotel rooms. There will be no favorite hiding place, chair, bed, room, bed or blankey. If the insanity hotel employees complain about is true, it most likely can be ascribed to the rootlessness. I hail from a family of six and I can assure one and all that we were not allowed to run through the house like untrained creatures. The condition of having no limits or boundaries only serves as an impediment to personality development.

In short, they seem to be zig-zagging through life which is fine if their sole concern were fulfilling their own wishes or finding relationships with other adults of ANY persuation; however, there are children in the mix. If chaos and crazy is what THEY want, then pass the children on to people who can offer a stable and relatively sane home to thrive in.

One is so hopeful that she will have a party when it happens ----- SAD for you dear. It will never happen. the funny thing is that this site background is so dark --------- tells you something about the people here?

She barely made it out of highschool, she had to go into a special program so she could graduate. I hate to think someone absolutely no education would be put in a position of political power. Of course if she gets rid of Brad, (she did say she never saw herself with a actor but a humanitarian or a what was it? was it a politician?) hmmm there ya go.

There's a point beyond which Angelina could not rise politically, but remember, she is -extremely-talented and very telegenic. She also has the ability to reinvent herself like Madonna.

Her best days are behind her. And understand something; politically, the rules are different for California candidates. That state is in such a mess, Ron Jeremy could win statewide on a reform platform.

The way Angie will handle her past is NOT to run away from it, but to run WITH IT. Most politicians are stupid and try to cover up their past drug use or acoholism like Bush did with his silly DUI back in 1976. Had he simply revealed that in an interview in 1999, it would have been off the table by the closing week of the election with Al Gore. Instead, stupid Bush kept it quiet and got ambushed by Maine Democrats. As a result, a lot of Republicans from the Elmer Gantry wing of my party were shocked, stayed home, and gave Al Gore the popular vote victory in 2000.

Trust me, Karl Rove was always overrated.

Section9, just wanted to comment, I could see her doing something along that lines, but I would thing it would be more of an ambassadorship. She hates the US, she doesn't want to live here, and she seems to think she is JB the incarnate. I don't know what it takes to achieve that, but she seems to work it out. Of course if Mr. Bretts book reveals any heroin use in recent times, and funny adoption tactics, that may be that.
