IUC Exclusive: NBC Dumps Britney Spears cause of her request to lip-sync
The Today Show, one of my favorites to appear on, has canned an upcoming segment with Britney cause of all her “ridiculous demands”. This confirms a previous IUC story how Britney is afraid to sing in public and will only lip-sync whether it be on a tv show or live concert. One of the key points I make in my upcoming book about Brit is how she lost her voice a few years back and since then has only been able to lip-sync.

Oh Brit Brit….well you think by now you would get over the fear of singing live. Hmmm…does the weirdness of this girl ever end? I think that it would be funny if she had an Ashelee Simpson, SNL moment. Oh wait, then she may shave her head and eat her babies!

ReplyIan. That’s what I should have asked last night. I’m sure I can prove that a single available girl is more attractive and conducive to sales than one with a boyfriend, paparazzo or other. I haven’t done the research yet to come up with stats from Subject Matter Experts.
ReplyI am not surprised that Britney Spears has made it a requirement that she is only going to lip sync, but one has to take into account her potential reasons for possibly making this type of decision:
There is no conclusive evidence supported in the claim that Britney was lip-syncing in the previous IUC exclusive where Laurent Medelgi mentions he spoke with some of Britney’s producers about the topic, but it is common knowledge that often times pop artists lip-sync during concerts. As a result there is a very high probability that Britney Spears often lip-syncs during concerts.
One must consider the pop-artists motivation for making a statement that she would only lip-sync. She may have said this to only one producer whom she may have not wanted to do business with, so to stonewall them she offered this halfhearted measure. This is possible, because even if an artist doesn’t want to do a show, the amount of money being offered to them is enough to make anyone thoroughly consider their options. In the case of a lazy pop artist who is heavily marketing oriented, lip-syncing offers a viable potential compromise.
I understand that when someone takes time to go to a crowded venue and fork over hundreds of dollars to see a show, they want authenticity. Just like when I go to see a rock show, I better hear some rock. Not something else.
However, when it comes to pop, marketing and sparkly lights often replace authenticity. There aren’t a whole lot of musical instruments involved in the Britney Spears entendre anyhow. Mainly the components of a Britney Spears show are sexy dancers and poppy beats.
I’ve never been to a Britney Spears concert, but if I went and she was lip-syncing, if I couldn’t tell the difference, would I really care anyway?
