IUC Exclusive: Tony Award winning Broadway Musical accused of abusing Teenage Cast; Lawsuits being launched
The musical director and staff of Broadway hit Spring Awakening have been accused by several of their teenage actors of “mental and physical abuse beyond repair”, IUC has learned in an exclusive interview with two of the actors and the former stage manager who quit cause of the gross abuse. The former stage manager says musical director Kimberly Grigsby on three occasions brought teenagers to tears and on the verge of nervous breakdowns. Another stage crew staff member blamed her erratic behavior on her alleged “bipolar disorder”.
“She should never have been hired to run this show,” one of the actors told IUC. “She’s completely neurotic and has no handle on how to deal with running the show without losing it and keeping the cast content. It was a complete nightmare and damaged my career forever.”
Another former cast member said he will sue the show’s production company for millions because of the abuse.
“I never want to be on stage again,” he said. “They ruined me. I cannot explain how much this has hurt me.”
Meanwhile, IUC has learned the 7 time Tony Award winning production will close in January cause attendance has been slow.
