Hollywood No White House
Barack Obama’s strong showing in Denver combined with John McCain’s weak VP choice Sarah Palin just about guarantees we will see the first man with a tan check into the White House. Palin ensures a Republican victory in Alaska but not much beyond. If fact, if McCain would have selected the more expierienced Condeleeza Rice he would have given Obama a battle to the finish, capturing more women, African American and gay (Rice is reported to be lesbian) voters.
In Hollywood, however, things have been much more integrated. Even though there’s still a paucity of Black leading men and women on the big screen, many times a Black man has assumed the role as Comander In Chief in major motion pictures. Here’s a few examples:
1) Mays Gilliam (Chris Rock) in Head of State.
2) Morgan Freeman in Deep Impact.
3) James Earl Jones in The Man.
4) 9 year old Sammy Davis Jr. in 1933 in the comedy Rufus Jones For President.
