Exclusive: New Obama Film To Be Produced
I have learned that a new feature film called “Yes We Can”, about Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama, is in the works. It will focus on Obama’s unique role in contemporary political culture, drawing an analogy between him and two other great American leaders: Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy. The film traces Obama’s hard childhood, growing up without a father and living his early years without luxury in Hawaii and Indonesia. It portrays his father as a womanizing, drunken, egomaniac whose rough personality made it very difficult to keep friends and family.
A large part of the film will show how Obama refocused his efforts on eradicating poverty and ending the Iraq War. And it shows how Hilary Clinton lost her bid to wrest the nomination from Obama. A lot of backroom dealings, disrespect, and mudslinging by the Clinton camp is written in the script.
Casting has already started, with Jamie Foxx and Don Cheadle as the frontrunners to play Obama. The role of Hilary is a bit more diverse with Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Jodie Foster being considered.
